This can be a little difficuit if you are just a beginner knitter. It is helpful to keep a little writing pad beside you and a pen to jot down your stitches at the end of each row. then you will know which stitch will be next. As you knit more of the pattern you should be able to tell which stitch is next, regardless of any decreases. It is hard to tell what you are doing, but really it is just calculation, and concentration. The pattern you are doing seems an easy one when you get used too it. It looks like you are knitting some kind of rib stitch?

In the 90 years through which Simplcity has produced patterns for clothing and other projects, I have found 5 different patterns identified as 8608. There may be more.

I have attached the images of the 5 patterns I found, so you can identify the 8608 pattern you are asking about.

You may wish to contact the Simplicity company directly and ask if the sewing instructions for "your" pattern are in the company archives and if you can purchase a copy of the instructions.

Unfortunately, you may need to purchase a duplicate of the pattern. As long as it has the instructions, it won't matter what size it is.

contact the company the pattern came from and ask them about more instructions. example:: mc calls, you would contact there customer service.

You'll probably need to McCall's or purchase a duplicate pattern.

Probably the only solution is to find/purchase another copy of the pattern with the instructions. It wouldn't matter what size as long as the complete instructions are included.

you could just use a smaller needle and use the pattern as is..to determine the repeats,look at the the pattern and see how many repeats they have in it.decrease one st per repeat all the around..
