You should not use WD40 on your machine. Use machine oil, you can p/u singer sewing machine oil really inexpensively. Also if you write Brother via the website they will email you a diagram of where to oil, I've found them very helpufl.

The only place you can opil an ultim is inside the bobbin case and around the bushings in the front end. Do a search for Anns fix it and you will find more than you will ever need for these machines

No oiling by the user.
Computerized machines are lubricated and sealed in the factory.
If you are the original owner, you could invalidate your warranty if you go beyond the maintenance routine described in the manual.
To keep the warranty, your machine is to be serviced by an authorized Brother tech on a regular basis - once a year if it gets heavy use.
General maintenance, per the manual, will keep the machine in good working condition.

The feed dogs come up as soon as you start sewing again. Just make sure they're in the up position and start sewing.
C. POSITION OF TOUCH PANEL
STANDARD
The deviation of the liquid crystal display and touch panel should be within 1 mm when the touch
panel is pressed.
ADJUSTMENT
1. Turn on the power switch while holding down the start/stop button, backtack button, and
NP button simultaneously.
2. While holding down the start button, press the + positions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on the screen in
order. If the buzzer sounds once when 5 is pressed, the position is okay. If the buzzer
sounds several times, the position is erroneous; therefore, adjust again. (When pressing
the screen, use a pencil (or match) with a round tip.)
3. Turn on the power again, and confirm that the screen display and touch panel positions
match.
