If this is a ride on mower check the small rod at the back of the mower below (not under) the seat to see if it's out or in. If it's out then the whole unit has been disabled so you can push it across the floor. If it's in then you shouldn't be able to push it across the floor. If however, this is working like it should then you either have a belt issue if there is one or a tranny issue. Could be something as simple as an adjustment.

Tillers rotate put in gear wont move was moving just stopped is their a belt or chain in gear box or transmisson

Hi pat,

Yes, there are two chains in the tranny. If the wheels spin freely but don't engage, the smaller chain is broken.

If the wheels don't move, in gear or not, the smaller chain is broken and wrapped around the gears.

It's a bit of a chore to get to....

Wont move forward or reverse-- transmission??

Does it have gears or a hydrostatic (automatic) transmission?

If it's a gear model, sounds like a loose drive belt.

If it's hydrostatic, it could be a belt problem or a problem inside the transmission. If it's a tranmission problem, this is not good. Many of the transmissions on riding lawn mowers are not serviceable - they are just replaced.
