Sounds like you need to take the TV to a repair shop. Varying voltage sounds dangerous!

This model was known for bad capacitors in the power board, have you tested them and or power supply voltages?

My Sony Bravia HX8/46 will not turn on, I check all the power going to it and it all works. Is there something I can do?

Is the standby led on the front lit. If not likely the problem is with power supply. If the standby led is on does it go off when the power button is pressed? Does the led blink. If so count the blinks and get back. The power supply provides an standby voltage to the main board. If the standby led is lit then this voltage is present. When the power button is pressed the micro sends a turn on voltage to the power board. Normally the power supply will respond and all other voltages needed to operate the set will come up. if a component is shorted the micro will not turn on the power board and will usually give a failure code via the standby led.

this is not a capacitor problem. set is only 18 months old - has something to do with x y sustain boards not allowing smps to power on the high voltages.

Turns on, lower right shows "DIGITAL TELEVISION"

Good day!!!

That problem is usually cause of bulged capacitors on the power supply board..

This the sample picture of your power supply board and I marked the possible problems on capacitors..

Things you will need.
1. A plastic flat end screw or any object with flat ends....to fry off the cover
2. Soldering iron.
3. Soldering lead
4. Soldering pump.
5. Flat and Philip Screw
6. Replacement capacitors (of same value with the blown one) that you can buy to any electronics store.

Hope it helps..

Im having a problem with my TV turning off and the standby button flashing 7 times, after it shut off. What can I do.

hi,
Blinking led in sony tv is its self dioganising function. 7 blinks by it means the horizontal output voltage increased above 33k.
You have to check the power supply stage of you tv. Normally in sony tv dry soldering can happend in the power supply stage. It will lead to unregulated voltage output from the power supply. Resolder all the points in the power supply section it will solve your problem.

Tv wont turn on w/remote or manual timer button keeps blinking.

Most likely one of two things; a failure in the horizontal oscillator section that produces the high voltage for the CRT or a failed main power supply. There are two supplies besides the high voltage section; one of them is on continuously so the set can respond to your remote, the main supply is turned on when you want to use the set. The latter also provides voltage to the high voltage section so it is hard to predict which has failed of those two. If you can detect a pattern in the flashing of the LED, it may be 'smart' enough to tell you which supply has failed but any embedded code may vary from one model to another so you would need a table for your set to 'decode' the flashing.
One cautionary note: if the problem is caused by any failed semiconductor, it will likely be available for replacement but if the 'flyback' (high voltage transformer) is bad, it may not be in production anywhere now.

I have the same tv with the same problem. Previously to resolve the issue I have left the system unplugged from the power overnight, however that did not fix my issue this time. Have you discovered a resolution to your problem yet?

Regarding 29gx1891/56r Philips Colour TV,LED keeps on blinking.

The problem was detected as a case of unregulated Power Supply Output. A sort of Crowbar is set in operation if the Power Out is above tolerable limits, which cuts off the supply to the Horizontal and etc. IC TDA 8362. The diagnosis was a faulty PWM IC 3842.

Turns on but not picture or sound. Power LED blinks

Your set might not be producing the high voltage it needs to light up the screen , it might be missing the supply voltage the supply volts to the output transistor ,if this voltage is missing is because the transistor is likely bad(shorted) and it has opened a fuse or a safety resistor. If you are familiar with tv service you have a place to check but you are not too familiar be safe and call a professional, high volts circuits are dangerous.
