Tecumseh HMSK 85-155905 engine on RYOBI Snw Thrwr 31AE600F034 Throttle control Linkage replaced but found Check Spring? bent wire in shape ---______--- where does it go?

I found out its a pressure Spring under the Choke knob. Stops choke knob from being loose when you turn it.

I didn't think the choke had a spring on it. However, it does sound like a governor spring to me.

SOURCE: tecumseh engine #143.985510 - carb linkage hook-up

Hello:

The Carbuertor Throttle is Held in the Full Open Position Until the Engine is Started and Running, then the Governor and Spring Work together to Keep the Engine RPMs to the Desired Setting.
The Following is an Explaination on How the Governor System on Small Engines Function.
>>The Governor System behaves like an Unending Tug of War between One of Two Governor Springs, which Pull the Throttle Toward the Open Position, and a Spinning Crankshaft, which Tries to Close the Throttle. When the Load on the Engine Increases - a Typical Example is when you Move your Running Lawn Mower from the Driveway to the Grass - Crankshaft Revolutions Drop. But the Governor Spring is Still Tugging, Causing the Throttle Plate to Open. In Response, a Larger Volume of Air-Fuel Mixture Enters the Carburetor, Increasing Engine Speed to Compensate for the Increased Load. The Crankshaft Speeds Up, and the Tug of War Resumes, until a New Equilibrium is Achieved. With Each Change in Load, the Tension Between the Governor Spring and the Load Brings about a New Equilibrium, known as the Engine's Governed Speed. Neither Side Wins until the Engine is Shut Off. At that Point, without the Crankshaft Spinning, the Governor Spring Pulls the Throttle to the Wide-Open Position. Two Types of Governors are Common on Small Engines - Mechanical and Pneumatic.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

SOURCE: need instructions for reinstalling throttle

You have to take the carb and exaust intake off (they should be attached anyways) so you can turn the carb at the right angle to reinstall the cable.

SOURCE: location of governor linkage and throttle linkage

Try going to searspartsdirect.com. You can put in the engine number 143.955016 in the model search and it should give you a parts list and diagram for that engine.
Good Day.

Our snow blower with a Tecumseh model OHSK120 snow king engine starts but runs full throttle!! Any ideas?

Stuck or bent governor, governor linkage or throttle. Try moving the throttle and see if all the linkages move with it.

I have a 10 hs tecumseh motor on a riding mower i need an explode view of carb and linkage when start-up engine it goes wide open

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. I understand you have a 10 HP Tecumseh engine. There are service manuals available on line for your engine but without your engine model number it is difficult to pass you the correct one: Here is the link for the service manuals:
http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Tecumseh_Service_and_Repair_Manuals

Somewhere in the list is your manual.
This is my best guess without your engine model number:
http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Tecumseh_Service_and_Repair_Manuals/TECUMSEH_SERVICE%20_REPAIR_MANUAL_OHH50-65_OHHSK50-130_OHV11-OHV17_OVM120_OVRM40-675_OVRM120_OVXLC120_OVXL120_OVXL125_695244A.pdf

^-Make sure you read about Adjustments in section 1 also.

Running wide open causes:
1. Broken throttle control plate spring
2. Governor spring problem
3. Internal Governor flyweight has departed the governor gear.
4. Throttle plate (butterfly) attached to the throttle shaft in the carb throat has come off the throttle shaft.
5. Broken / missing linkage
6. Someone loosened the governor shaft bolt at the base of the governor arm and allowed the governor to get out of adjstment.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Normally when you move the throttle control on the handle, all that is happening is that governor spring tension is increasing or decreasing pull on the linkage /governor arm. With engine off and plug wire removed, look for a small shaft coming out of the engine with an arm attached. Attached to the small arm will be linkage to the throttle on carb.. So when you move the throttle on the carb with your finger the arm moves also. There should be spring connected to opposite side of governor arm connected to throttle control at the handle or small lever or metal tab. When you incease pull on the spring, the engine will speed-up. Adjust as needed. Good luck

I will try again here.
1 wire link from the top hole in the governor arm to the throttle on the carb. There should also be a wire link with a spring that goes from the Governor arm to the speed control handle.
