After tech replaced ATM 250 watt supply with 300 watt. the ATM bios can no longer find my HDD?
OMG its 18+ years old.. year 2000 or older, why mess with anything this old its has zero street value, why spend hard earned cash on it>?
why not go to good will pickup a used $20 PC for 10 years newer.
we send this to North Korea in the hope it kills dead its atomic
bs. no kidding these are sent to our enemies. in the 3rd world.
your SHOP?
well have him fix his error, why not>? you paid him good money.
we cant out guess his magic fingers can we.? how, name it?
wild but (statistical and raw experience says)
my guess is the CMOS NVRAM coin cell is dead.
he forget to test it with a meter first, 2.9v to 3.3 ok, below bad.
all fail from 3-5 years, par. ( yours is HOPELESS BAD)
why not edit your post for clarity, use some puctuation too.
I will..
hdd is now missing./. ok...
the supply was used and failed .?
1: the cables to it got bumped off by his hands. put them back.
2: do the bios hot keys work seems yes, so does the BIOS show time of day and M/D/Y show correctly?, if not COIN cell is bad.
3: is the HDD showing up , now, and in the boot order first.?
try the HDD (has 2 cables, one is power) but needed try it in another SATA port, use port 0 first.
If you hold the HDD in your and with power
you can feel the Gyro effect, a skill to learn day1 PC repair,
and learn to hear the motor spin, can you, , it must be heard
to spin, if not the 12vdc is missing to it or IT DIED.
your bios hot key is F10,(ESC on newer PS by HP)
this PC is so OLD, HP dropped support (it is now legacy)
this pc is old, no data on it now, much. a black hole there. of nada.
does the hdd hum , listened to.
it needs 12vdc to spin the motor and must spin to show up in BIOS, the pnP scans fail on any hdd that fails to spin up.
no hdd model stated either.
i looked for spare parts this PC, its so old none seen but ram or HDD.
what is your full service tag data.
we cant find facts accurate lacking this key data, not at all.
but if its so old the HDD is PATA (aka.IDE) hard disks are hard to find like that, and can get pricey. do to rarity
i put in and Sata card to fix that. and upgade to SATA drive.
here is my fav, site on relic manuals
https://www.manualslib.com/c/compaq+presario+sr1100+-+desktop+pc.html
free 100% free like no others, do.
2000 to 2003 made?
40GB hdd drive, PATA< most this old long ago died.
most hdd have 10 year life, never 20, sorry.
we see this, at HP (in the dead files
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bp...
google finds it deep there.
sneaky google bot did that, nicely.
hdd , be it pata or sata drives, no matter;.
the hdd must have power, there. 5v and 12vdc.
and data cable there,
and drive not dead, motor stalled.
then and only then can bios ASK IT (PnP) what it is.
or BIOS shows a blank,
this is true from the first IDE drives 1985 to 2003 , then SATA happend. (best use this)
note the hot key changes, F1 , F10, ESC year by year.
the BIOS scans all IDE ports doing the "who are you cammands" (PnP PCI scans) to find what is there, or it can not use it. ever.
Seagate publishes those commands if you desiree to learn PC tech.
id buy this.https://www.walmart.com/search/?cat_id=0...
why pay a tech, $100 to fix a usless old PC
20 years old dog.
buy one with w10 running, or 64bit, better
no kidding, why pump money in any usless old dog you have, preplexing to be sure.

Hit F2 or Delete during boot up and check the HDD configuration. If the drive is not shown it may be faulty.
SOURCE: Powe Supply Problem Compaq
I did some research and the powersupply for that machine is a standard ATX powersupply, so yes just about any off the shelf power supply will fit and work. They may be overkill but that's fine.
HP sells the proper power supply for your machine for $98US as part number 176764-001 . There parts store is at http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/default.asp?mscssid=CADCEXJ9VLH69MBBGJ8N6SELXQ2C2XP1
SOURCE: will a 512 mb video card work with a 300 watt power supply
It all depends. Does the card require a 6 pin PCI-E power connection? Does your power supply have such a connector? If both answers are yes then it is possible. If the card does not require a power connection then it is also possible. But I would recommend upgrading to at least a 450 watt psu to run it more efficiently. Hope this helps.

You may need to upgrade to a higher wattage power supply, which would also help with the performance of your computer. Or try updating either your system bios or USB drivers.
SOURCE: Compaq Presario SR1265CL replacement power supply
You can replace power supply the higher wattage the better.
SOURCE: I'm replacing a Bestec ATX1956D
I wouldn't say it's necessarily longer lasting, but more watts are better for computer users that use more devices that pull power from the PC. For example, if you are hooking up several USB peripherals that draw their power over USB, or installing extra drives in the computer that will need power.
Testimonial: "Thank you, very helpful, I'll get the 300watt power supply!"
