Telstra Connecting to Wireless Wi Fi network Support
SOURCE: Unable to connect to wi-fi
I think it is saying that the wifi "card" is set so that it is not being configured by windows.
In XP
Control panel > Network connections
Under LAN or High-speed internet you will see an icon labelled wireless network connection. Right click on this and then click properties. You will see three tabs at the top
General - Wireless Networks - Advanced
Click on wireless networks
There should be a tick-box saying Use windows to configure my wireless network settings. I expect that, in your case, the box is unticked which means that the software supplied by the vendor of the wifi card is configuring the settings. I find that it is usually more reliable to let windows do it.
So tick the box and click OK. You may then have to reboot.

The 8200 by itself does not have networking capability.
This means that you cannot connect it directly to your router and give it an IP address, so others can connect to it.
The good thing is, that this printer is listed on the list for compatibility for upgrade with the wireless network kit (see here). The bad thing is - this kit costs about 70$ (see here).
A solution which does not cost anything, is to share the printer from
your computer with the other computers. The downside is that the
machine to which the printer is connected has to be running in order to
let the others print.
If you decide to buy the Networking Kit - here are the setup instructions.
Sorry - but there is no simple (plug & pray) solution.
SOURCE: Wondering how to access optus 3G off a telstra phone
hey i have fixed this problem on my phone (htc touch hd, telstra) and this is how i did it- go settings, connections, go advanced tab down bottom, click select networks, click new on the top bar under programs that auto..... enter in OptusInternet (exactly like this).... then click modem tab down bottom then click new..... enter in OptusInternet again and chance cellular line bar to cellular line (GPRS, 3G)... then click next and for access point name type in internet.............. click ok ok x and then load up internet explorer and it should work
However the current problem i am still facing is opera wont run..... explorer will but opera doesnt load. just sits there untill it comes up with error 104 blah blah blah- still working out how to fix this as i hate internet explorer and opera is way better (going to try downloading opera 9.5 beta again and see if that works)

Ok first thing to know is if the LD is detecting networks at all. Tap the wfif icon and hit the scan button. If you see a list of available networks that means its working and the problem is the settings.
I'm assuming that it is detecting the network from your description.
The LD supports WEP and WPA so you have other options if nothing else. WEP is nice and simple (most of the time anyway)
On the scan find your network tap edit, Make sure the SSID is correct, Make sure that it says WEP under scurity and then tap the key box where is says assigned.
Now this is the bit that makes or breaks the connection. Make sure the key type is set correctly. You have three choices hex, ascii or passphrase. Most wireless router just use the first two.
You need to make sure that this is set to exactly the same as the router.
For ten digits that means you are trying to use 40-bit hex which is not the easiest but it works sometimes. Ascii tends to go a lot easier and I would suggest you consider switching over the ascii to avoid the headaches. I don't know why the LD does not want to work all of the time when using the hex key but it does seem to have problems. Assuming you have the hex key matching exactly as per the one you have in the router it should work. Should but sometimes just won't. Check your cases and make sure you are only using the basic ascii set not the extended. Stick to number and letters and you should be good.
I have never had a problem with the ascii or passcode but usually do not have much sucsess with the hex setup even when it is correct. I've assumed that it was something I've missed but have not had these problems using other devices.

Dear Meghna
you have not mentioned the wifi router make and moel
no problem
for this you have to go to your router web admin to add your device as WPS client
this will solve the problem
for that all the models are differently configured so you have to try playing with the settings yourself, if you jumble up the settings of you wifi router there is a reset switch in all the routers that restors your router to factory settings.
if you find my information useful dont forget to vote me with the thumbsup
thankyou and take care
