Are you sure you're not clicking on the cd/dvd drive in your system? When you insert your usb stick the existing drive letters may get displaced which can easily be confusing. Just to be sure, pop a cd in your drive and see if it opens when you click on it (when you've got your usb stick inserted) If you right-click on your drives and select 'properties' you can see which one is 4gb which will identify your usb drive. Use a computer with a CD/DVD drive and a USB port. Insert an USB memory stick into this computer, and also insert the Nortons CD into this computer. Copy the contents of the Nortons CD onto the USB memory stick.
Remove the USB memory stick and insert it into the Dell mini's USB port and then install Nortons from this USB memory stick.
Same thing happens to me .My 8gb silicon usb flash drive got the same error, please insert a disk into drive, the name of my drive weas changed into Removable Disk instead of the name(Sanctuary which is what i used) It said ni media ,and it was registered as XXXXXXXX U167CONTROL USB DEVICE can anyone help me with this.
if you are inserting it in front panel then try using it in other ports at the back if the it still hangs your system try usb stick in other pc....if it works well in other pc then you need to install chipset driver and usb driver....
This failure is caused by the usb drivers conflicts, power supply or failure on the motherboard - You can go to the IBM website and check it out more about this issue.
