It's already in your laptop, the wireless LAN and all you have to do is to detect the wireless LAN to your Router. Your Wireless LAN find out some connection coming through your Router that have internet provider.
To let that Wireless LAN can connect is right click the icon at the right side Taskbar to search some network connection, and if he see the Router Name appear then connect through it. Hope this might help you. Good luck!

Just share the files on you Desktop to access or read the file in your Notebook or vice-versa. This can be done through the Router.

Step 2 Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password both are admin.

Step 3 Click Forwarding->Virtual Servers on the left side, and then click Add New... button.

Step 4 Type the Service port which you want to open and the IP Address of your computer; Select Protocol to TCP, UDP or ALL; Change Status to Enabled

Step 5 Click Save button to save the settings.

If you want to open port 80 for Web server in your computer, the Management port of the router will be changed to 8080, you need to type Http://192.168.1.1:8080 to connect to you router.

Hello, I am currnetly using a Belkin ADSL2+ modem with wireless G Router and have just been given a D-Link Dir-855 Xtreme N Duo router I wish to use and have been told I can buy a ADSL Modem only to...

I think there is no need to replace the ADSL2+ Router.
Belkin is fine and should work well in combination with the D-Link Router and you would get the downlink data rate up to 300Mbps.
I recommended that you use Belkin Router as ADSL Modem and Dlink to provide wireless access. (Instead of buying ADSL Modem)
So, all you have to do is : -
-Turn-off wireless signal of the Belkin modem.
-Connect the Dlink Router to the Modem (Belkin) through CAT6 Cable.
-Configure the Dlink Router, Secure it and Enjoy 300Mbps Data Rate.

(In this way your Belkin will serve as ADSL Modem and Dlink would be the wireless router)

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Cannot install D-Link router

1. check your wireless adapter TCP/IP settings if its set into "Obtain as IP address Automatically".
2. if the settings is set as Automatic and your not getting IP address then select "Use the following IP Address"
3. use IP address followed to your router address like if192.168.0.1 in router type 192.168.0.2 or192.168.0.3 just check the next address IP in your network.
4. after typing subnet IP will automatically set
5. type the router IP address as your default gateway
6. click OK to save your new settings

Hope this will help

Question on setting up two computers

Yes, I have pretty much the same setup at home. Wired desktop and wireless laptop. On the back of your wireless router, there should be 4 or 5 wired connections which you can use. You will only have to use the setup disk on one computer. Basically, the setup disk is for the router, not the computers, it simply guides you through the router configuration process. You can also do this manually, the manual for the router will give those instructions as well.
