The Baby Lock Amelia (BL100A) does not have an option to lower the feed dogs. To use the sewing machine for darning, you need to place the darning plate over the feed dogs. The darning plate is included among the original accessories.

The manual for the Amelia is available from Baby Lock on the product page: http://babylock.com/sewing/amelia/ . See the FAQs & Manuals tab. The direct link to the manual is http://babylock.com/ftp/whitepapers/BL100A_Instruction%20&%20Reference%20Guide_Final.pdf . For the picture of the darning plate, see page 8. Page 27 describes attaching the darning plate.

Unfortunately, I haven't found a source for a replacement darning plate for the Amelia. I hope this helps.

Remove extension table/accessory box by gentle pulling it away from machine. You are left with just the free arm. In the back of the free arm, lower left corner, you will fine the feed dog lever. Push the leaver to the right to lower the feed dog.Instructions for lowering and raising the feed dog are on page 48 of your owner's manual. Good luck!

Pull out the removable table and you will see the drop down feed dogs switch lever behind the back of the machine. Move that lever to the left or right to have feed dogs go back to normal sewing mode OR for embroidery mode.

I hate to sound dismissive but: read the manual. Duh. It is not as written above: drop dog........
The feed dog is the toothed pieces in the sewing machine deck, under the needle, which move the material away from you when you push the operating pedal.
Dropping the dog - ie making it inoperative - (see manual for how to on your machine) means the material has to be propelled by hand under the needle. This is especially good for freehand machine embroidery as it means you can move the material in any direction whilst sewing.
It can be easier to freehand embroider if your material is fixed in to an embroidery hoop to hold it flat while you work.

SOURCE: Feed dog on Serger Babylock 5260D

Make sure that the presser foot dial (the silver "knob") on top of the machine is not too loose. You can adjust this w/ a nickel; tighten it all the way down & then loosen about 4 full rotations for cotton fabrics. Also make sure the Differentail feed lever is on "N". You can order a book from your local Baby Lock dealership for all models. Good Luck.

SOURCE: How to Drop Feed Dogs on Sewing Machine...

On many machines you tilt the machine back on its hinges to see the underside and there you will find a thumbscrew to lower the feed dogs...you also need to be sure that your machine is capable of having its feed dogs lowered...not all machines can do this!

Bobylock 5260 serger where is the lever to raise the feed dogs?

The feed dog lever on the Babylock 5260 serger is located on the right side of the machine, near the front. It is a small lever that can be moved up or down to raise or lower the feed dogs. To raise the feed dogs, you will need to push the lever up. If you are having trouble locating the lever, you can consult the machine's manual or contact a Babylock dealer or repair technician for assistance.

How do you lower the feed dogs on the babylock Esante (ESi)?

The ESi uses an embroider hoop, so I suspect you have a BLN. You can get a free copy of the manual from Babylock at following link.

https://babylock.com/resources/4898/download

If it is the BLN, then the selector lever is on the lower backside (below dogs).

I have a babylock serger bl4-736d and I am having issues with the feed dogs which arent moving. I can feed it through with presser foot up and it works. I cant figure out stitch length either?

indicates a problem with the sew direction level /knob or control
if it is in neutral the dogs do not come up and the length of the stitch depends on the dog movement

Do the feed dogs move in a babylock 5260d?

Feed dogs are what pulls the fabric through the machine, so "yes," they do need to move.

Where is the feed dog switch on Baby Lock Journey?

That information should be in the owner's manual...look for darning or free motion quilting instructions. Since Babylock charges for manuals, am not able to upload one to look for it. FWIW, machines either have a switch to drop/raise the feed dogs or there is a special cover plate included in the accessories that simply covers the feed dogs.

Feed Dog problem

Here are some common reasons that the fabric won't feed:
1. Stitch length is set to zero, or machine is in button hole setting
2. Feed dogs are dropped (free motion setting)
3. Broken gears (typically in old singers)
4. Presser bar not coming down - may be bound up.
5. Lots of lint under the needle plate (in between the feed dogs) preventing feed dogs from raising.

Hope this helps.
