Could be anything from a bad mag or door switch or even a bad connection at the mag. Need more details. Any odd sounds??? A louder more pronounced humming sound??? Bad smells?? etc

If it's made for (or safe for) microwave ovens it should work in any of them, and I would just follow the steamer's instructions.
