My SONY - VPL-FE40 is coupled with Polycom for VC. Rightnow the image is flickering when using local camera and complely blank when trying to connect to far site. Any idea of what the issue is?

Is the Indian site within the firewall? If so, I would focus on the firewall. Does the US site have a firewall? They may be blocking outbound traffic. If you are connecting but no video, it sounds like UDP traffic is still being blocked somewhere. If you can, you may want to assign public IPs on the units and test outside of the firewall.

for video conferencing at such long durations over IP, it is a MUSSSST to have dedicated stable bandwidth at all the locations.if that fails, symptons like the one u experieced are possible.this will generally happen during working hours when bandwith usage by pc's is high!!!!!

SOURCE: Could not connect to our VSX 700 polycom over ASDL

for VC over IP, both end should have a dedicated bandwidth with PUBLIC IP.
this solves most of the problems that are faced in a vpn or shared network like situation!!!!

reset the settings to factory default and change your cable. if that doesn't help, the polarizer filter on the blue lcd panel is fried due to excessive dust and heat. the optical engine will need to be replaced.
