SOURCE: I am trying to connect an Insignia flat panel TV

Hi,

I really need to know the model number of your Insignia TV and which connections you are using between the Dish box and the TV to give you the correct answer. If you are connecting both cable and satellite, I believe it should be set-up as follows:

1. Connect cable feed to TV
2. Run auto channel scan on "cable" setting
3. Connect Dish box to TV and then try changing the "input" selection.

With the Dish box switched on to a channel number you know, try pressing the "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button on your Insignia TV remote repeatedly until you find the satellite feed. Once you have done so, you should be able to change satellite channels using the Dish remote.

If you need further assistance, please post back with the model number of your TV and details of the connections you are using on the back of the TV.

Regards,
BElectric

Probably not... the box is programmed to what ever company you are using and if you can then you will need to contact your service provider and set the tv up like the box....

Just got a new tv and on satalite. The picture is very snowy. Help!

Check all connections, if necessary, use the diagrams in the manual to make sure everything is connected as it should be.

Check your Input.

On your remote select TV
Then TV input
You should see a small menu on the screen
Select Satellite or HDMI
Select Select DTV or Dish

You should now have a good picture.

If not, call your Satellite TV Company right away and they will help you troubleshoot. The number will be on the contract they gave you. I can't give you the number without knowing which Satellite TV you have subscribed to.

Good luck to you.

Get dish network to work with hp SR5505F COMPAQ PRESARIO COMPUTER

You can not change channels on Satellite with your TV tuner card. The satellite box decodes the sat signal (it is sent encrypted) you can run S-Video/RCA/HDMI depending on the video card input, but you will be required to change the channel on the Dish box. The TV card can only change channels on broadcast (over the air) channels, you can attach an antenna and it will use the NTSC tuner to change analog channels (if they are still available) and the ATSC tuner to change digital/HD broadcast channels. This card (from your description can ONLY deal with broadcast TV, You will need a TV card with a QAM tuner for unscrambled digital cable. There is no solution for directly interfacing with Satellite on a PC or Mac (DirectTV or Dish) the signal from the satellite is encrypted and requires (at least for DirectTV, a fairly complicated decryption setup to function, this is handled by the tuner box/card combination. Sorry your setup will not support changing the channel on the PC, you may be able to find some kind of software that can utilize an IR transmitter to change the channels on your satellite box, similar to the way a Tivo or other DVR can talk to cable boxes, but that is the best you will be able to do as far as channel changing.

Dish hd dvr remote won't work. brand new. it

It sounds like you have interference, try removing the uhf ant from the back of rec and promgram it straight from there. you can also hookup "bunny ears or a pigtail coax to the uhf ant port to increse uhf signal. also make sure the uhf ant is standing straight up.

Philips flat tv. Can't get it to hook up to dish network. The room where the tv is there isn't a dish box. We have to watch what is on in the other room. It only has one coax cable to hook up. Don't know...

I should be channel 3 or 4. This assumes that this coax cable is coming out as a TV R.F. connection of a Dish Network Box (Satellite Receiver) intended for direct connection to an old fashioned NTSC (channels 2-13, 14-83, possibly even has cable channels depending on how old?) TV.

If this coax is the output of a coax going directly to the Satellite Dish or through what might might look to you like some kind of fancy splitter (called a Multi-Switch) the you WOULD NOT want to hook that to your old NTSC tv. The frequency is too high ... etc. etc... you would need Dish Box (as you call it) a.k.a. a Satellite receiver - with a good and active satellite card from your provider.

Does Uniden sell Satellite Dishes? Several years ago people were able to purchase Satellite Dishes from Radio Shack. This enabled them to get non scrambled television stations from around the world. Does...

What you are referring to is a FTA receiver. These are generally considered to be illegal and people who install them are then charged 4500.00 by direct tv because of the assumption that their signal is being stolen. Uniden no longer sells them for this reason

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...

Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
The customer service reps at DirecTV usually idiots reading from a script with no real field experience.
