This is most likely the result of a aphid infestation. Did you have a lot of pine head size bugs on your new growth. Also it might be a fungus but most likely its the aphids. Lady bug will help get rid of the pest. lady bugs are what we call a beneficial insect. do you have any pictures you can up loud to help me confirm?
an aphid friend is an ant as they milk the aphid to use in the nest
The natural enemy of the aphid is the lady bug ( little domed shaped bug that is red with black spots )
so remove the ants and let natural predators do the job
the aphid controlle is -white oil and there are organic mixtures that you can use that you can make at home
search -- organic remedies for the control of aphids
If u have a very less number of plants...U may just spray the plants with a strong jet of water.
some of the toilet soaps will be effective.like the ones containing potassium or coconut oil. so, buy some hand soaps or shampoos, that contain these oils(also soyabean oil, fish, vegetable), make them as a mild liquid solution and spray on ur plants.
If u dont get one, combine ur homemade soap solution with the above mentioned oils and do the same.
Not enough info. White powder could explain a scale or a fungus. Did you mean shedding? Willows prone to aphid. If these are the problem treat root system according to label with Merit (Bayer) also known as imidicloprid.
Their natural predator is the ladybird, so if you spray, look out for them. Aphids are farmed by a species of ant, which care for them, so that may be why you have an infestation.
First thing to do is check for insects. You may need a magnification glass. Look for spider webs on it. These are caused by aphids though, not spiders. If you find them, you need to spray with an insecticide that does not poison any fruit. You can use soapy water too and or cedar oil to get rid of aphids. Other diseases of cherry trees include fungal and bacterial infections. These are harder to treat.
