SOURCE: Viking dish washer won't drain

Try clearing the air gap (which is the seemingly pointless thing that is near your kitchen faucet.)

1.Take off the shiny metal cover, and you can sometimes twist off the plastic cap, or you may need to use needle nose pliers to push in the tabs that hold it in. You may or may not see debris in the tube that is in the air-gap.

2. Now what you need to do is take a clear glass and put it over the air-gap with part of the glass hanging over the edge of the sink, you may want to put a towel around the other side of the glass to keep the water from going all over the counter, turn the dishwasher off then on again and select "rinse and hold". If there is any thing in the line it will come out.

3.If not you may need to take out the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher and on the left hand side in the sump area there is a small, (usually yellow) cap that covers the drain motor impeller that can usually be pulled towards the center/right by hand, if not with needle nose pliers. You will need to vacuum out the water with a wet/dry vacuum or towels.

If none of this works, let me know and I will go over some more uncommon draining problems.

SOURCE: Bosch dishwasher

Although I previously posted with the same problem of a film on the dishes after cleaning, I did find a section in the owner's manual which solved my problem. Lift up the rinse aid cap on the inside door - the factory setting is on "4". The rinse aid works in conjunction with your local water, which has variations in it's hardness or softness. When your dishes are streaky, lower the rinse aid setting to 1 or 2. If your dishes are spotted, raise the rinse aid setting higher.

SOURCE: dishwasher leaving a white film on dishes after wash/dry cycle

Well, that usually happens if the water in the area has too much alkali metals, such as calcium and magnesium.
Try putting some salt together with the detergent before you start the cycle.
And if it still does, try washing the finished dishes again with clean water, i mean, without detergent...

Why is My new Bosch dishwasher leaving black marks on my dishes?

Is it perhaps coming off the racks? Are they black? Did they come with a plastic covering that has not been removed? Otherwise I would imagine it could be the rubber seals around the door. Have you tried wiping all around with a white cloth to try to establish where it may be coming from? Door or drawer?? If it is a drawer style unit, check the rollers are clean, they may have been over zealous when greasing them...

Leaves fine grit inside glasses, cups, etc. Dirtier dishes than before washing.

Do you have hard water? Many states have passed laws that outlawed phosphate as an ingredient in dishwasher detergent. If you have hard water, the detergents don't work very well anymore. The "fine grit" is probably hard water deposits (calcium and magnesium). Not harmful but it looks awful on your dishes. There are some new products that were designed to solve this exact problem. They are inexpensive and effective. Can't say the name or I'll get banned (again). Internet search will uncover it.

The dishes in the top end up covered in baked on residue after cycle completed. They are dirtier after washing than before. As if bits from below are splashing up during the cycle and not being rinsed off.

The problem is hard water. Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com. They have a new product out that solves this problem once and for all. It filters the water entering your dishwasher and removes the hard minerals that cause these spots. Very affordable and guaranteed to leave your dishes looking amazing every time.

Mold growing on dishes

Recommend that you run another cycle with no DW soap aded, waiting until the dishwasher has filled with hot water and begins to do the first wash cycle. Then add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water and close the door. Allow the cycle to finish. Run it normally with a standard load of dirty dishes. Note: These high efficiency dishwashers count on the "dirt" of the dirty dishes to help wash/clean the dishes. Recommend you not rinse/wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

Watch for any occurrence of the black dots and repeat the bleach treatment.

Dishes not rinsing well,

I would check the bottom drain area. Sometimes food can stay down there and block the drain or get back around onto the next load.

Film on Dishes

We had this problem too. We switched to the Electrosol tabs (with the red dot in the middle) for soap, and it seems to have fixed the problem. Make sure you have the rinse aid in there too. Good luck!
