Help with locating CMOS battery on Sony Vaio laptop
I have a Sony SVE14A2C5E laptop. One day the screen decided to go black. The touch screen works fine and I could only see a picture if plugged into a TV through hdmi. After messing about with it, I stupidly disabled the graphics card so now I don't even get a picture when it's plugged into the TV. Firstly, I need to reset the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS settings but I can't find it on the motherboard. It's a E89382 MV-6 HannStar. Any help (perhaps with pictures) with any part of my issue would be greatly appreciated.
Locate CMOS battery on motherboard
After reseting BIOS, I still will probably have a black laptop screen - any ideas?

Google cmos battery on your board You will get pictures.
Hopefully it is readily accessible. Some can be a real PIA to get to.
If defaults do not help you see if you can use a hiren 15.2 disk to make changes to your video settings.
This is basically an OS issue. If nothing works yo may just have to wipe the drive and reload it from scratch.

You need to go to your CMOS setup, I think that you lost the primary default boot drive. it should be set to your HD and not to a usb drive or a cd rom or any other device. I am assuming that you do not get the "Starting windows" screen. Tony
Remove the battery, remove the power cord and start taking the laptop apart. You will need to remove the CMOS battery located on the motherboard and let it sit for an hour or two. Then but it all back together. The CMOS battery is a silver battery about the size of a nickel.
open the case, clean up some dirts...then take out RAM,place it back after a couple of minutes...then start...if nothing works, locate the cmos battery then out and place it back for 5-10 minutes after..if really nothing works, then consult a nearest technician to find the real problems with their testers
It really sounds like SP3 installing was coincidental. You're not getting to the point that Windows even starts,so it becomes a hardware issue. Sometimes laptop batteries are hidden under panels and boards you remove to get at things below. Since you've already taken the machine apart, try it again looking under everything you remove.Remember that laptops don't necessarily use the standard size desktop battery, they're usually smaller. Make sure Everything is plugged back in when you put it back together. Other than that, you could very well have a bad Ram stick, try using them one at a time in the bottom slot. A CPU failure usually allows the POST screen.
at the back there would a white strip containing some info. it would be sticked on battery . there would be 2 buttons. first slide lock and then slide release and its done
You can find CMOS cell on motherbord chipset.
it is in back side of laptop.
Open back side of laptop then find motherbord chipset you can find 1 CMOS cell on motherbord chipset pull that CMOS cell for 15 minutes then all settings are defaults.
It should be located somewhere on the motherboard wich means pulling the computer completely apart which unless you know what you are doing may be a little difficult for some, but not inpossible.
