Okay, go to your manufacteres website, (if your pc is dell then go to DELL.COM)

then in the website of your manufacturer go to the drivers download tab, or support by product, and input the serial number of your machine, once you have, you will see a list of the drivers that are the latest, just go to the bios tab, and download the latest update you need..

NOTE: some pcs wont let you jump bios versions, for example if you were to have version 4 and the latest is 9 then the bios update will not work, and you will havee to install all of them in order to get the latest one.

i hope i helped you!

SOURCE: Can Windows 7 be installed on X05? I get ACPI

The only issue i can see is if your your ram has not been updated since leaving the factory, you will notice from the tables W7 requires a min of 1GIG and your machine leaves the factory with 256mb(dependant on country possible) so check your ram. I run windows 7 on 2GB and its great, your machine will take 2GB. The Samsung X05 was released 2004 and the NVIDIA Geforce 4 should be fine. i would point out drivers and compatability but windows 7 so far is really good but driver support is crucial

SOURCE: Hi I'm looking for LG Rocky Motherboard bios update for my LG P1-J2HHV3. I want to install Windows 8

Why would you require a BIOS update? It does not factor with an OS change. Instead concentrate on drivers being supported by Win 8.
Upgrading BIOS! If it isn't broken don't fix it. Upgrading is a scapegoat fix, and many manufactures have a disclaimer. "You are on you own, and the likes for a reason. Most solutions are found elsewhere. However, if you truly need to update read this to help you with the upgrade. You don't want to end up with a brick. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-common-mistakes-you-should-avoid-when-flashing-your-bios/357

I updated BIOS from version P01-A0 date: 11/09/2009 to P01-A3 date: 05/05/2010, now getting CMOS Checksum Bad Press F1 to Run SETUP message and can only go into BIOS. HELP!

* what does it mean "not for upgrades"?
During the windows 7 to 8 transition, some PC models had different BIOS versions from factory, related to the installed OS.
Windows 8 PC got an UEFI BIOS
Windows 7 PC got a "Legacy" BIOS
So PC with Windows 7 installed from factory can't use the "not for upgrades" BIOS version, even if they were upgraded to Windows 8 or 10, since the factory BIOS was a different version compared to PC with Windows 8 from factory.
unzip the downloaded file, browse to WIN folder of the unzipped files and run the flash.bat file

Acer E1-571 bios update

(Important: You do not need to update BIOS when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8. To know more, refer to the following Acer Support page:
http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26980)
To check if there are any BIOS updates available for your Acer E1-571 and to update the same (if you do not have the latest ones installed already), you can follow the steps mentioned below:
(Important: Updating BIOS incorrectly can harm the performance of your device. Be very careful while selecting and downloading an update. Make sure that it is compatible with your Windows version. You can do this by going through the instructions on the following web page thoroughly.)
1)Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
2)Type "Aspire E1-571" (without quotes) in the box under "Search by Product Model" title
3)Click on "Aspire E1-571" that appears in the search list below the box. If the search results do not appear, simply click on "Search" tab besides the box.
4)Your product "Aspire E1-571" will get displayed.
5)Click on "BIOS" menu in the table that appears
6)Go through all the BIOS files carefully. If there is any BIOS update available for your device, click on "Download" option of the respective file.
7)Once the file gets downloaded in your system, run it and follow on-screen instructions to install BIOS updates.
Hope this will resolve your issue.

Cannot get quickcad to function in Windows 8

If you just allowed a windows update, you should know the answer to your problem. I had to use a retail windows disc to get a new gateway notebook to install windows 8 because gateways recovery disc's wouldn't work & yes I know which BIOS setting to use. back to your problem, windows 8 updating has caused a ton of problems with new PC's. So my advise to you is use an earlier restore date & see if that fixes your problem. As for update settings. I always use "Allow me to decide what to download & install" & friend Microsoft adds that screwed up popup at the bottom of the desktop like you're making a mistake by choosing that option however, half of those updates just take up hard drive space. I only install hardware installs & net framework. Both of which I can remove if need be [running windows 7 on 5 laptops/notebooks & 1 with 8 on it....] Good luck with yours....

Can asus k42f be ugraded to windows 8?

Windows 8 has updated drivers as much as you would get from Asus built into win 8.

Go to devise MGR, if windows 8 did not load drivers, you will see a flag.

See what hardware did not load a driver and then use the win 7 driver.

You don't do anything to make a win 7 driver work, if the driver is newer, and signed it will install, if it's older then the driver windows installed, it won't install. If you see a flag and windows did not install a driver, then try the win 7 driver, or go to the MFG of the hardware and see if there is a win 8 driver.

You can also run windows update, if win update see's a newer driver out it might pick it up and give you a install option.

Now, your chipset, and most hardware has windows 8 drivers out.

The drivers are the biggest problem, the biggest problem for you is the BIOS was not set for windows 8.

So you could find even with the best drivers, win 8 slower or has bugs more then win 7 will have.

Me, I would bench test all the hardware with win 7, then with win 8 and see which one is better.

Very slow installation of windows 8 on asus p5kpl/am/ps

Can be a lot of things, can be your hard drive.

Your PC is not set to run win 8, yes people put it on older machines, but some don't realize it's not running properly.

Windows 8 has a call for a CPU that has- PAE, NX, and SSE2 features, if the CPU does not have these you will have problems.

Most all motherboards that now support win 8, have had BIOS updates for the kernel of win 8. Only the newest one's out are set to support win 8, but they had BIOS made for it.

Your system has no BIOS updates at all.

There is a utility that will check your CPU to see if win 8 will run on the system, but you need have the OS working, like win 7.

Read this page, and try and run this utility. It would be best for you to reinstall win 7 and run it.

The only reason win 8 will work better is if it is on a system that was made to run it.

Here is the link to read and the test.

Tried to update win 7 to win 8 but when loaded receive message OXOOOOOO5D nowcan,t start computer

windows 8 is far better than windows 7

To install Windows 8 on your PC, the processor (CPU) must support the following features: Physical Address Extension (PAE), NX, and SSE2. Most CPUs have support for these features, so if you receive this error, it is likely because the NX feature is not enabled on your system. To resolve this error, follow manufacturer guidelines to enable NX ("No eXecute bit"), or the equivalent XD ("eXecute Disabled"), feature within the BIOS settings. This feature is typically found in the Advanced or Security tabs within the BIOS settings, and can be referred to by a variety of names, including but not limited to: • No Execute Memory Protect • Execute Disabled Memory Protection • EDB (Execute Disabled Bit) • EVP (Enhanced Virus Protection) If the BIOS setting for the NX (XD, EDB, or EVP) support option is not available on your system, you may need to contact the manufacturer to update the BIOS. Note that some very old processors may not contain these features and will be incompatible with Windows 8 Release Candidate. A whitepaper has been published with further details about the PAE/NX/SSE2 requirement for Windows 8, error cases and scenarios that customers encounter when machines fail to meet the requirement, and what to do to install Windows 8 on their PC's. You can download the whitepaper at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh975398.aspx

IE8 can't install because required updates are older than ones...

This problem is caused by the Multicore Processor support. Enter the system BIOS and dissable the multicore option. Restart the system and load IE8. Shut down and go back into the BIOS. Then reenable the multicore CPU option and restart. Remenver to save options at the end of each BIOS setup.
