Red light flickers, goes off, no heat

My WK600 is almost 3 years old and has been great, until recently. For a few days, the red heating light would flicker and then stay on, and the water would boil. Now it flickers very briefly and goes off, and there is no heat. If I rock the on-off switch, sometimes it will flicker on again, but mostly it stays off. Any ideas?

I have the same problem...about three years old. If I cock it to one side it works, sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't go on or goes on then goes off right away.

have the same problem, my kettle is less than 1yr old. Red light flickers sometimes will come on most of the time wont work

I have the same problem. I believe that the electric connection between the base and the kettle is weak. I think that is due to the mechanical effect of putting the kettle onto the base repeatedly. I called Braun, the only thing they suggested is that the unit could be returned if done within one year.

I had a similar failure with my Braun WK600. Switch it on and the lights flicker and go out before it boils. Took it apart (Tamper Proof TORX, available from Snap-On, Canadian Tire, probably most auto parts places that also sell tools). The On-Off switch has a mechanical lock out for the lid being open and also for when it is not mounted on the base. The kettle also has three bi-metallic temperature switches. One shuts off the kettle after it has boiled long enough. The other two sit up against the element assembly adjacent to each end of the heating element. They protect against boiling an empty kettle by sensing the higher element temperture when there is no water to conduct away the heat. In the case where the lights flicker and go out, but the switch stays 'On' these are the likely culprit.
In my kettle the contacts did not line up correctly. Instead of making good contact they were only partially overlapping like a couple of the olympic rings or a couple of rings from the Audi logo. This resulted in a localized increased resistance and high heat in one of the contact holders which eventually melted the surrounding plastic. At that point the wires going to the element behaved a bit like springs which forced the contact holder further out of alignment until it all became hot enough to trigger the thermal switch.
I fixed it by bending the contact holder, which is fused into the now hardened plastic, to the optimal position and hopefully it will not generate enough heat to remelt the plastic or trip the thermal switch.
I have boiled a couple of kettleful's; so far so good!

Oh, and if you take your kettle apart and your house burns down it is not my fault.

Intermittant heating. It will begin to glow....sometimes the flames shoot out for a short time....but then go out. Then, it will continue to glow red without flames igniting, then goes dim....couple minutes...

This is usually caused by faulty coils on the heat valve. they can be purchased seperate from the gas valve and are relatively easy to install..

System error flashing red lights

You need to have the motherboard fixed, do to this you need to take the xbox360 apart then reflow the board.

there is a great 6part video guide on YouTube to view for free. 6 videos from the same fellow, each video is a few mins long, and goes over everything for you.

http://www.youtube.com/user/ohiocitysales#p/u and its free unlike some eBook site.

I actually used the same method to fix over 450 Xbox360 units with no problems at all, barring a few (but i have done nearly 500 so you expect a few problems along the way), you just need a few things though like a heat gun and some thermal paste. sounds hard, but it's very easy once you start!

Hope this helps in some way.

I should also mention that that the 3 red light issue is covered by Microsoft for 3 years from the date of purchase under there extended warranty for 3red light and 1 red light E74 errors. so if your unit is under 3 years old and you have not opened it, then give them a call for free and have your unit fixed for free.

I have a problem with my x-box 360 and the red eye. It plays no more games and i purchase it in 2007. what can i do?

Do you have 1 or 3 red lights? Microsoft have a 3 year warranty form the original purchase date for the 3red light error and also for the 1 red light error (E74) so if its under 3 full years old and has one of them two errors, and has not been opened then have it sent to Microsoft to be fixed free of charge

Hello, your problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Color problems and tv shutting off

My tv screen turns red as it heats up and the repairshop told me it would cost $600.00 for a new red projection gun how ever I don't think thats the case because it is a heat related issue. I think an ic or transistor is going bad and goes into saturation when it gots warm. I will be spraing some components with freeze spray and if my hunch is correct the color will temporarly correct its self when I spray the right component.

My xbox flashed a red light, and the screen goes black

I went with the eraser fix and it worked like a charm. Can anybody explain why using erasers changes things and makes the 360 work without the 3 red lights flashing? Just Curious!
