Look at the switch and solenoid assembly at 1 oclock on the carousel. That is what activates to set it going and it then clocks off a ratchet wheel to do two full cycles looking for a selection then stops. If it gets stuck the carousel wont stop.

If the "bad" disks work fine in some other DVD-player, then it's time to spend $40 and buy a new DVD-writer.

Or, if your current DVD-player is under the manufacturer's warranty, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced.

Had a similar problem with my Denon. When I inserted CD it takes it in but immediately stops - like it doesnt sense the CD. Same problem with Single or Multi changer. Removed cover, removed reader ( 4 screws) and found lens had fallen out. Cleaned, reinstalled with touch of super glue on rim - works fine.

SOURCE: disc won,t play it just

Hello,

how long have you been using this player and when did this begin?

The lens is weak such that it cannot load data on discs. Its spinning, trying to load, but can't because of the weak laser.

Get a lens cleaner, use it to clean the lens. If that doesn't solve the problem, get a screw driver, open the player's cover so that you can gain access to the lens, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens. This should clean dust or dirt that might be on the lens.

If non of the above solves the problem, then know that you need to replace the laser to a brand new one.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all discs again.

Good luck.

Static sound from one channel after playing for a while--time it starts varies.

You don't say what a 1055 is and it is hard to know what you are asking with a lack of ID on the equipment at fault. Sounds like a source selection problem maybe a switch or if electronics a CD4066 IC.

Sony DVP CX860 300 disc just keeps rotating the carousel

I just got one of these and i notice mine does the same thing. WHat i found that helped mine is tip the unit back a little. The loader uses a little but of gravity to get the disks to roll back into the loader. If its level the wheel sometimes cant spin the disk up into the loader fully. If its tipping back a little the disk will roll back easy into the loader and load it properly.

Also, dont forget if your playing a disk and you want to stop the unit, DONT POWER IT OFF AT THE UNIT. Power the unit off by the remote power this way it will finish its cycle and put the disk back into the proper slot.

45's records won't turn and prior to that they only played side B

There's a motor under the back of the carousel about 11 oclock. You can see the drive gear if you bend down and look under the toothed base of the carousel. If you press the lever to rotate the carousel you'll be able to see if the motor is turning or not. If it is turning but the carousel isn't moving you could have a stripped nylon gear.

Wurlitzer 1015 OMT Disc spins, then stops....

When the disc is taken from the carousel and put on the player how long does it take for it from the time it is placed onto the player to being returned to the carousel? Also is the cd spinning when its on the player or not spinning at all. The answers to these questions should help in pinpointing the actual problem.
