I have an Aquatec. Bought about a year and a half ago? It no longer gives a close shave. Is that all the longer a NORELCO shaver lasts?

Norelco suggests changing the heads every 12 months for best performance. This is stated in the user manual that came with the shaver.

Replacements can be found at shaveroutlet.com. You will need the model number written on the shaver to properly identify the correct parts

SOURCE: Norelco doesn't work

I've changed out the batteries. You have to buy them on line cause they are two AA sized nicads that are connected with soldered tabs and have two free tabs that must be soldered in place. That means you have to unsolder the old ones. Make sure you notice the + and - sides of the old ones so the new ones are installed the same way. The case is opened by removing 5 screws. Note how a black plastic clip on top of the motor is placed cause it will fall out. The motor has to come out with the batteries and the circuit board under the batteries. The motor is connected to the circuit board with fragil thin metal leads that can break. One of mine did and I repaired it by soldering a short piece of thin, insulated phone wire. Mine worked really well until I let it run too far down before recharging and now my red light is on, too. I did get it to recharge by dismantling partly and reassembling; may be a faulty connection cause it went back to the red light and wouldn't run until I whacked it a couple times on my hand. It now runs, but still have red light which may mean its not charging. Looking for a manual to see what the red light means. I've also had it blink with a red light several times which may be a diagnostic light indicaton. Here's a link for the batteries, but there are probably other sources http://www.interstatebatteries.com/estore/search.asp?details=1&bnd=Norelco&mscssid=6256X7VH67LW9JBSK6Q7RTJRKXCQA3N8&Ntt=norelco&N=4294600169&mdl=600RX&part_number=NIC0200&part_desc=Norelco+600RX+replacement+battery&Nu=Part+Number&Ntx=mode+matchboolean&Ns=product+Type%7C0%7C%7CRank%7C1&Ntk=SearchGroup&js=1

SOURCE: can i use shaving cream with a norelco electric

According to the Phillips website, it is NOT a waterproof shaver, therefore it is not advisable to use any liquids prior to or during shaving.

However, as a hairdresser and having experience with shaving men for many years, you can use the tried tested and true method of either shaving AFTER you get out of the shower so that your hairs on your face are softer from being in the moisture, or if you are not planning on having a shower, you can just use a hot face cloth on your face for a few minutes before you shave. This will soften the bristly hairs on your face and make it easier to shave.

I hope this helps. Please remember to rate my help. I would greatly appreciate it!

Did you use part HQ9 for your replacements? Norelco makes many different replacement heads and only one type is correct. The correct type for model 8140XL can be found at shaveroutlet.com below

Red light at bottom flashes even when razor ids fully charged. What can causrethis?

When the battery is almost empty (when there are only 5 or fewer shaving minutes left), the battery symbol lights up red.

Make sure that the battery does not have a memory effect. What I suggest is taking the shaving head unit off and running the shaver till empty, then recharging. Check if the red light is still flashing.

There's also a head indicator at the bottom of some shavers.

To remind you to replace the shaving unit, the shaving unit symbol flashes (all types) and you hear a beep when you switch off the shaver (RQ1090 only). This happens at the end of 7 successive shaves to remind you to replace the shaving unit.

Without knowing what model you have it's difficult to diagnose further.

I get three shaves per charge

I have a couple of thoughts...

First, the amount of shaves you get is directly relevamt to the amount of time it takes you to shave. Most shavers today have a run time of about 30 minutes while there are some that are longer. If your shaver has a 30 minute run time and it takes you 5 minutes to shave, you should get about 6 shaves on a charge. If it takes you about 10 minutes to shaver, 3 shaves is all you can expect on a charge. You get the idea.

If your shaver does not hold a charge for at least 30 minutes, the batteries may be going bad. Although you mention that you just got this shaver, it was manufactured some time ago. Model R-450s has been discontinued for about two years. The batteries on lower end models like this one often dont last as many years are the older models did.

Need to replace the lotion dont know how

Don't use the NIVEA lotion, just coat your face with a sensitive skin shaving gel, like Edge or Gillette, then run the shaver over your face. The shave is much better and cheaper. I gave up on the NIVEA packets over three years ago.
