I just got a Rodeo,it is a used vehicle runs great, the only problem with it is that the shifter was stuck in park.I tore into the center console(after checking all fusese)alI got it to go into gear ,Now it won’t go in park and the key won’t come out.For some reason while I was putting it back together,it started working, only problem is,I don’t know what I done but anytypaway it didn’t last long.I did notice that the cilinoid in the shifter was hotter than a pile of steaming dung,if you might know something that I may want to know, please let me know?
Yes it probably is the brake switch the brake switch cancels the cruise control and it sends a signal to unlock the shifter!
It sounds like the neutral safety switch is bad need more info year make model yes it could be a brake switch or cruise controller switch or controller.Find a good mechanic because these are serious issues. Good Luck

its usually behind the glove compartment in the blower box. you will have to pull the GB door down all the way to access it

Remove the fuse! The fuse box under the hood has the DRL (daytime running light) fuse. The underside of its lid should tell you which one. Either that, or just remove the bulbs from their sockets.
If ALL the lights (head, tail, dash, etc. are coming on all the time), then those aren't DRL's. There's a light sensor (little round black dome) on top of the dashboad in the middle front nearest the windshield. They sometimes fall down inside the dash (where it's dark!) and this triggers all the lights to come on when the ignition is on.

I had the exact same problem. It is the fuse for the brake lights ( a red 10 amp fuse) that is blown. It was the wiring in the trailer that caused it to blow. Replace that fuse and it will work perfectly!!

safety switch on brake pedal. common cause is a wire breaking off. there are 1 to 2 wires going to this switch. It is located on the brake pedal bracket above the foot pad.
