I need help troubleshooting a non-functioning Sigma bicycle computer BC 506 speedometer, which I understand determines the trip/total miles and trip time. The only item working is the clock.

I just replaced the battery and reset the wheel size and other values, per the Sigma manual.

I already referred you to Google and to Sigma support, but it sounds as if you probably need to replace the unit. It should work when you replace the battery, even if you have not set wheel size, as all bike computers come with a default setting. There is no way to "fix" such an inexpensive device (under $25 with shipping)

Dear spinnerrr

  • Multiply the wheel diameter in mm or cm by 3.14.
  • Measure the distance travelled in one complete turn of the wheel.
this is the four digit number you are looking, it should be between 2145 and 2149

I can't set total time and total odo on my Sigma BC 906. Because of place of dot. How to change the place of dot ?

The dot (".") on the "Total ODO" display is not decimal point, it is thousands (digit grouping) separator. If you want to set e.g. 330.75 km, then you enter "00.331". If you want to set 1145 km, you enter "01.145". The decimal point on this Sigma computer is denoted using decimal comma "," (as used in German and other lagnuages/countries) even if you set the language of the computer to English. You can see decimal comma e.g. in "TRIP DIST" display.

Sigma BC 1106 DTS wireless. After 2 years it will only register time, total distance and total hours all other functions have ceased to work. Battery's have been changed, contacts cleaned and all parts...

Here is the link to Sigma Sport. They have a good customer service and I would discuss directly with them. That way whatever is determined you cut out several steps and either get the unit replaced or fixed properly with advice that is direct from the source.

This may also be a warranty situation in which case again you will eventually need to go through Sigma Sport.

You have done all the normal things that make sense to diagnosing the problem, sounds more like the problem is internal. One thing to also keep in mind, electronics like this do wear out and sometimes they just start to die off. This may also be the case, but Sigma Sport will be able to tell you.

Good luck

SIGMA BC509 trip timer problem

No problem, what it is doing is recording actual pedaling time. Say you go out for a twenty mile ride and take two rest stops. You were gone for lets say from 12:30pm to 3pm, 2.5 hours total, but trip time shows 2hrs10min. If you took two breaks of 10min each, there's the difference. My Bontrager computer counts trip time based off input from the speed sensor, if I'm not moving it doesn't count trip time. I beleive that is what is happening.
