I can't find a way to turn off the navigator after finishing a destination. I read the manual which said to touch the flag icon, but that doesn't shut off the navigator.

When trying to enter a destination on my navigation system it allows me to enter some icons but will not allow me to enter the rest of the necessary icons to finish the address of my destination.

Entering 'icons'? All the ones I have used only use text. In a Mercedes C Class I recently hired, it would auto complete and offer addresses. But if you put in one wrong letter after what the system knows is correct, it stalls. For instance if you want 2362 Memorial Drive, in Dallas but it is actually Memorial Boulevard you put Dallas, and then Memorial and all is fine, but you put the 'D' in for 'Drive' and it will stall because it knows there is nothing that begins with 'D'. Put in 'B' for Boulevard and it will complete.

Mapquest no longer offers that service. In the past you would pull up a destination route in mapquest and send it to sync or onstar, then when you got in your car it was already there. Mapquest discontinued that service about 3 or 4 years ago. There is no longer a pull down or icon to click. It's a shame as it was so handy.

Meaning of error flag code 4,252,0

Cannot write or read file. - Code : 2,252,0
and because of it stops the scanning.
The following fixed the problem on all computers:
Activate the utility "MP navigator EX"
On the left-top click on Scan/Import
Click on "specify" (i.e. the settting for scan import) and change them to 75dpi and uncheck everything (I only needed to uncheck the "unsharp mask").
Test it now and it will work.
After that wills start working even restoring the settings.

Remove read only files

After copying a batch of files to your Windows PC from a CD or DVD, you may discover that all the copied files carry the read-only flag. The most obvious way to remove the read-only flag from a file is to right-click on its icon, choose "Properties", and uncheck the "Read-only" box. But what if you have hundreds, or even thousands of files marked read-only?
You can batch-remove the read-only flag from multiple files using the attrib command from a command prompt. The Windows Command Line site has a tutorial on commands everyone can use, which includes an explanation of performing this task with the attrib command. The section on the attrib command is titled "Changing file attributes with 'attrib'", and is located about three quarters of the way down the page.
In short, you can remove the read-only flag from a group of files by navigating to their folder from a command prompt and typing attrib -r ./*.* /s. I did this to a folder full of image files with attrib -r ./*.jpg /s.
Bring up a command prompt in Windows XP by clicking Start → Run, typing "cmd", and pressing "OK". In Windows Vista, click Start, type "cmd", and press the Enter key.

My GPS only shows a "non" English language. How do I fix this?

Hi

You did not mention which gps systems do you have. Anyway giving you details of tom-tom gps language change instructions.

Change the language settings on your TomTom GPS device. If your TomTom GPS receiver is set to the wrong language, change the current language to the language of your choice. Perform a reset on the device as described in Step 1. When your GPS unit turns back on, tap the button in the lower right corner of the screen to continue. Tap the next screen to access the GPS receiver's main menu. Tap on the wrench icon to access the "Change Preferences" setting screen. Scroll through the "Change Preferences" screens until you see the "Change Language" icon, identified by three flags. Tap the "Change Language" icon and choose your desired language from the list. Depending on which language you chose, you may be asked to choose a new voice for turn-by-turn navigation.

For Garmin device:-

Try this below

Touch the Wrench icon which is located on the screen with the Magnifying Glass and Map icon
Touch the Wrench icon
Touch the down arrow
Touch the Lips/Mouth icon
Touch the top right blue box
Touch the up arrow until you see American English
Touch American English
Touch OK
This should now be in English.

How do i change the langiage of my Tom Tom 720 Go ? i have tried resetting it but does not reset the language. Also how do i set my Home address please?

Basically: 'Change preference' (look for Spanner image Icon) -> Scroll right Arrow until 'Change language' (look for Flags image Icon) -> Select English -> Select an English Voice
To set Home address:
''Change preferences' -> scroll right to get 'Change Home Location' -> use 'Adress' to enter new address or 'Recent destination' to select a recently entered 'navigate to' address. Hope it helps. Let me know how you go and good luck.

I just charged my brand new TOMTOM 340, turned it on, went to set language and set it incorrectly, can't navigate myself back

Do this whilst it is disconnect from a PC

Whilst it shows a map display touch the screen once.

Select the icon that looks like a spanner / wrench

Use the rght arrow on the display until you see a bunch of flags. (if you shoot past it just keep going until it comes ound again)

Touch that and select the correct the correct flag / language

How do I delete addresses from my Tomtom?

There are two ways

One is from the TOMTOM itself

Touch the map display once.
Select the spanner / wrench icon
Press the right arrow until you see MANAGE FAVOURITES.
Select the one you wish to delete and the display will change.
At the bottom of the screen will be a DELETE button use that.
It will ask for confirmation click YES.
Click DONE when you have finished.


Two is via TOMTOM home
Start TTH
Connect your GPS
Start the GPS
TTH will probably offer you updates (let it do its thing)
When the update is done use the right arrow on your PC display and select OPERATE My TOMTOM

Now use the same method as you did above.

To delete ALL recent destinations

Touch the map once
Touch NAVIGATE TO
Select RECENT DESTINATIONS
Now select DELETE
It will ask for confirmation select YES
they will all be deleted and the flag will grey out .
Touch BACK
Touch DONE.

TomTom GO 720

Thank you for your fast response. I'm impressed. We do have that manual, but we cannot find the flag icon (from p.63). Page 49 suggests it might be in a hidden menu, but we can't get to that, either. The icons on our TT 720 do not seem to match those described in the manual. Regardless, we can't navigate the menu, because of the unknown language. We've clicked them all, however. ;(
