Loss of power - Stihl pole pruner

Check fuel tank vent, loosen fuel cap as a test.

By your description it is running only on the fuel available from being primed. So likely carburetor impulse air or diaphragm (carb rebuild or replace).

Stihl pole saw model HT75--Was cutting a limb and the chain stopped cutting--What is the problem?

Could be a few things.

1. Clutch slipping at engine end.
2. Drive shafts have become detached from drive or broken.
3. Clutch behind the drive sprocket on the cutting head may need tightening.
4. Chain too sharp/aggressive and is trying to cut too much and the stopping the chain.
5. Chain too tight.

My Stihl HT 75 pole pruner pulls the shaft out of the clutch housing when I extend it out. Any suggestions on the problem?

sounds like the drive shafts have been put the tube the wrong way, or something is missing from the inner shaft.. I've attached the breakdown manual so you can check.

Changing drive shaft

You should be able to just pull it out, it just slides into the clutc drum. It be stuck from rust, speay some WD-40 on it an let it set for a while, also try tapping on the clutch drum lightly with a hammer as you pull on the shaft.

Echo ppt-266 pole chainsaw will not cut with the pole extended

A very common problem is that the tip of the drive shaft breaks off. If it cuts with the pole retracted and won't cut with it extended, than the drive shaft is pulling out at the clutch end or at the head. Try loosening the screws where the pole goes into the cutting head, stand the unit straight up and twist the cutting head to see if it drops down even just a little bit. After trying that, loosen the screws where the pole goes into the engine assembly and twist it there also. If this doesn't work, remove the pole at the engine end and pull the drive shaft out to inspect the ends of the shaft. Good Luck. George

I CAN'T REMOVE THE SPLINED SHAFT FROM MY STIHL HT101 POLE PRUNER.

Take it to an authorized repair center. Not what you want to hear but its better that way. It is a complicated ordeal that if you aren't trained for you can do damage to the shafts
