SOURCE: I have a Hitachi WH 18 DFL cordless impact driver, which I love. I was doing a little bit of heavy drilling, and now the drill bit is stuck. The sleeve extends as if to release the bit, but the bit do

My guess is that the bit twisted a little in the bit holder so the steel ball is bound. If the collar moves you could try a slide puller on the bit and see if you can impact it out with the slide puller. Or you could take the bit holder apart. There is a retaining ring that holds it all together right on top. Pull that off and a washer, spring and the collar will come off. Becarefull to watch for the steel balls on the spindle. They WILL fall out! Now hopefully the bit will come out. If not it may need to be twisted in the oposite direction that it got stuck when you were using it to break it free. Hope that helps and good luck!

SOURCE: A bit is stuck in my cordless Hitachi DS18DFL

I have the same drill with the exact same problem. Mine will absolutely not break free. I've used a pipe wrench with channel locks to hold it but still no luck. I think this is a design flaw in the drill. I finally bought anther one on ebay for $25 new drill & i'll use the old one as a replacement when the other goes bad....That is if i can get the chuck off. Very dissappointed.

I am trying to remove keyless chuck from Hitachi cordless drill DS 18DVB. I am insertiung flat head screw driver into chuck, turning clockwisw but getting no bite

the screw at the base of the fully opened chuck is a left hand thread
it may be a slot but normally they are philips head or hex head undo that screw by turning as if doing it up
once it is out , hold the shaft and by placing something across the now partially open jaws a quick hit on that object with a hammer will loosen the chuck off the shaft you can place a allen key in the jaws and close them up and use that as an object to hit

I have a hitachi cordless 18v hammer drill, the high gear went out first after an inexperienced person with power tools was using it. Then after that first gear started and the drill started going out....

YOU BET, ITS POSSIBLE THAT ITS EVEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, THE TOOL HAS A FIVE YEAR WARRANTY ON IT, SEND IT TO A HITACHI SERVICE CENTER, LOOK ONLINE FOR ONE CLOSE TO YOU, ITS A COMPLETE ASSY, YOU CAN ORDER THE PARTS AND INSTALL IT YOUSELF IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES, PARTS SHOULD RUN LESS THAN $50

I have a three year old hitachi dv18dl cordless hammerdrill. The low gear is stripped and the trigger is intermittant. I tried taking it apart but saw nothing obvious. Any ideas on what to do or where to...

Here is the diagram for the drill. I would replace the gearbox and dc control switch. But it may be cheaper to buy a new drill.

Dewalt 18 volt cordless drill the chuck is stuck in the fully open position and wont close

Use a pipe wrench on it to give yourself a little more leverage. It is simply jammed all the way open and it will release when you apply enough force.
