2000 200hp ox66 yamaha outboard has issue with losing power after getting on plane. It drops about 10 rpms at a time until you back down to idle and runs smooth. Throttle back up and issue returns.

Sounds like it has a fuel restriction. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge on the vst tank on the motor to make sure you have 30-50 lbs of fuel pressure.

SOURCE: I have a three year old Piaggio 50cc Zip scooter.

I have had the same problem with my stepsons zip 50 and have done all the usual checks. The solution is from a piaggio technition. Take off the air cleaner and housing, start the scooter and bring it to the point where the engine dies. At this point spray easy start or a gasoline spray direct down the carb intake. If the revs pick up, you have a lack of crank case compression and the most likely reason is worn oil seals on the crankshaft. It sounds odd but the worn seals cause all kinds of strange problems.
Thats 2 stokes for you. Hope it helps, good luck

SOURCE: Chrysler 70 HP outboard motor dies when pushing throttle

I have found that 99 percent of the time when this happens it is carb related. It is very possible that you picked a a small piece of grit or trash in the high speed jet of one, or both, of your carbs. I would be willing to bet that pulling the carbs and cleaning them will resolve your problem. I am almost positive that will fix your problem, mainly because it sounds like you've already tried everything else. I had this same problem last season, and what had happened was I left the vent open on my fuel tank, we got a shower, and I pulled just a small bit of water into the carb and that was it, she would not do anything over idle until I pulled the carbs and cleaned them. i even put the water muffs on it and let it run in the yard for about an hour thinking that it would burn the water out, but i was wrong. Anyway, clean the carbs and i think you'll be in good shape, Good Luck.

SOURCE: motor chokes and misses under moderate load and loses power

Sounds to me as tho it might need a carburetor adjustment, providing there is an adjustment screw on the carb. Sounds like the engine is running a bit lean. Did this problem occur right after the carb cleaning, or was it there in advance? Is there a fuel filter that might be clogged?

I have a 1999 200hp Yamaha outboard motor idles fine everytime I put in gear stalls at low rpm fine at high rpms and idles fine in gear loe rpms stalls

This may sound funny, but for a while, Yamaha put a steel bolt in the aluminum casing on the side of the motor. dissimilar metals caused extreme corrosion inside that affected operation. Check out Boating forums on Yamaha.

Evenrude outboard 200 hp motor. starts ok idles ruff, has a hard time getting on plane, skips and sputters like it's not getting the gas. once it gets on plane, it runs great. don't know the problem

Replace the fuel filter. It sounds like it's dirty and not allowing enough fuel to go through until your running at speed where it's not pulling as much fuel through the filter.

Engine idles rough at red lights begins loping rpms drop to almost killing, then cycles back to normal, then repeats rough idle drop in rpms and loping, back and forth until I rev engine or take off

You could have a clogged fuel filter, if you haven't changed it in awhile. You could have a leak in the intake system somwhere also. When you slow down, you get less power to the engine. It may need spark plugs and wires as well, if in need for a tune up.

Replace the mecanical fuel pump! The membrane is leaking.
If you're 'good' in mechanics, change the diaphragm only/ Part 68V-24411-00-00
You'll find the pump on the camshaft cover.

Bike wont idol below 2 grand

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Almost always, the described idling problem would be a carb issue. The carbs set has to be pulled down, fully dis-assembled, all non-rubber parts soaked in carb cleaner and cleaning be done specially on the jets and pin holes.

In some instances high idle could be caused by a vacuum leak in any of the rubber coupling between the carbs and the intake manifolds.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
