SOURCE: My Rowenta iron will not heat up. The yellow light
Inside the iron is a piece of thermal metal the is supposed to make contact with a small ceramic pin with a metal cap on it. I think this was intended to be a safety device but they fail and the iron will not heat up. The part does not seem to be available so easiest way to fix is to put a small bead of glue on the housing that forces this to make contact.

I spoke with smallappliances.com on 6/15/09 and the iron trigger is not available separately for this model yet. you have to buy the whole iron unit which is about 85.00
I've taken it apart and have the trigger switch out, i'm going to compare it to the switch for my other rowenta that is available and see if it is the same shape/size. I'll report back!

Sounds like the Steam control valve is blocked or not opening. try cleaning the iron with a kit from wallmart or similar store. Failing that :It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.
