The Home Button is the only button on the face of the iPad. Apple's design philosophy revolves around the idea that less is better, which makes the home button one of the few ways to control the iPad outside of the onscreen controls. The most important use for the Home Button is to take you to the Home Screen.

Iphone 4 home button not working properly.. Its working when i press hardly , how to fix it

In this case, your home button's connectors may have been misaligned and would require professional repair.

The good news is, you can still use your phone using its on-screen home button. Normally, this is used as an accessibility option, but it's also a common solution for those with non-functioning home buttons.
To enable the on-screen home button,
go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch. Turn Assistive Touch on, and you'll see a small circle appear on screen.
Tapping that circle gives you four options: Home, Siri, More (for things like multitasking and playback controls), and Favorites. In your case, ignore Favorites, but tap this on-screen button whenever you need to access your home screen, activate Siri, or get all the options you'd normally see when you double-tap the home button.
If the on-screen home button ever gets in the way, simply tap and hold to drag it anywhere else along the frame of your screen.

My iPhone 3GS fell on the floor and now my home buttom is not working

I suggest you search for somebody who repairs iPhone's and ask him or her to check the internal electronics of your device. An iPhone is a powerful device. Every inch inside an iPhone is used for electronic components, chips and cables. If you drop an iPhone the chance is big that the internal components have damage. If you're lucky it's only a loose cable inside the phone. A technician can just reconnect it but they need special tools and knowledge to open up and repair your iPhone.
You could also go to a store and let them send in your iPhone to the Apple repair centre, but this will be very expensive.
The cheapest way is that you search for a local technician who repairs iPhones. They will actually repair your iPhone. The "repair" service from Apple is actually more like a replace service. They will throw your defective iPhone away and will send you a new iPhone (same model as you sent in) and the repair will cost you the same a a new iPhone.

Ipod home button is stuck down

iPod home buttons fail all the time. If the button feels stuck in the down position, you no longer feel that distinct "pop" then it is a design issue and should be taken to the apple store for warranty work. If the iPod is out of warranty, then there are several shops that service home buttons. If the home button still "pops" as it should, then the issue is with moisture exposure. Sweat and wet hands while using the home button allow the moisture to seep into the home button area, eventually causing a corrosion buildup that slowly deteriorates the home buttons ability to do its simple job, after repeated exposure, it just has too much corrosion and stops working. If you of warranty period, check out my home button repairs, all with a 15 month warranty against defects, best price in the industry http://www.zfixit.com/ipod-touch-repairs/ c3f42093-2937-4241-8c7c-3b7ddbc184e5.jpg

My i phone wont turn on i try to restarted now it wont turn on i try to hold the home button and the power button a pineapple apears and it just stays like thet

This may not fix it if you "jail broke"it:::

Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.

Reset

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a 10 seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:

Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

My Iphone will not turn off when I hold the home button down. any suggestions?

It is not supposed to turn off when holding just the home button. In order to do a restart you hold the home button and power button down until you see the apple logo on the screen appear meaning your phone restarted. Holding the home button down just closes the program you were in and goes back to the home screen.

If you are familiar with repairing electronincs I would recommend opening the unit up and inspecting the internal components of the home button and the corresponding logic board connecting point for corrosion.
You can get a new home button for about $6 on eBay. Just eBay search for iPhone Home Button.
