Honda gas power pressure washer runs for awhile then cuts off.

Previous owner had way overfilled crankcase oil. Oil had gotten into carb and clogged air filter. Drained oil to correct level. Ran engine but kept cutting off-see above. Took off carb cover cleaned housing and ran without air filter-ran fine. Unsuccessfully tried to clean air filter with gas-did not work. Apparently, the engine could run just long enough to exhaust the air in the old filter and cut off which is why it would start back up after a few seconds. Bought new air filter-whole thing-about $15 at Carquest. Put in some carb cleaner and installed the new filter and it runs perfectly.

sounds like the carb is clogged with oil. Clean the carb and clean the fuel filter.

Could you check to see if the choke flap became dislodged? It sounds like the choke isn't opening.

if its a honda disconnect the yellow wire but please ensure that the oil is at top of filler neck.

try soaking the carb for 15 minutes in gasoline. If you have a plugged port just sparying may not be enough to clean it

Carburetor is probably gunked up from old gas left in system. It will need some cleaning and / or dissasembly.

Have it repaired at a reputable mower or small engine repair shop. When being stored for long periods, run it out of gas or use a fuel stabilizer in the gas to prevent this from reoccuring.

You can try spraying some carburetor cleaner into the carb. If it starts for a minute, your carburetor need cleaning. When you added new gas did you remove the old gas first? Is the air filter clean?

Not getting enough gas.. check gas filter.. Rust/Water

does the engine cut off or the pump cuts off.
the honda engines has a oil alert on the side, check the oil level.
check the nozzle in lance for over pressuring

I have a 5hp honda power washer sat for 2 years it will only run if I spray gas in the carb as soon as I stop spraying the engine stops I have took off carb and cleaned it
