Honda gas power pressure washer runs for awhile then cuts off.

I have a Honda gas power pressure washer that is about 5 years old and has always worked fine. The first time I used it this year, it was hard to start. When I did get it cranked it ran well for awhile then cut off. I can still start it but it will only run for a brief time. Help!

Did you pour all of the old gas out before you started to use it. Sometimes condensation builds up in gas tank when stored. You need to dump old gas an put in new gas.

Previous owner had way overfilled crankcase oil. Oil had gotten into carb and clogged air filter. Drained oil to correct level. Ran engine but kept cutting off-see above. Took off carb cover cleaned housing and ran without air filter-ran fine. Unsuccessfully tried to clean air filter with gas-did not work. Apparently, the engine could run just long enough to exhaust the air in the old filter and cut off which is why it would start back up after a few seconds. Bought new air filter-whole thing-about $15 at Carquest. Put in some carb cleaner and installed the new filter and it runs perfectly.

Carburetor is probably gunked up from old gas left in system. It will need some cleaning and / or dissasembly.

Have it repaired at a reputable mower or small engine repair shop. When being stored for long periods, run it out of gas or use a fuel stabilizer in the gas to prevent this from reoccuring.

Honda Pressure Washer HP 5 not starting

You can try spraying some carburetor cleaner into the carb. If it starts for a minute, your carburetor need cleaning. When you added new gas did you remove the old gas first? Is the air filter clean?
