My car radio is saying Please insert correct map SD Card how can this be fixed?

The SD Card carries the data for the Map Reader. It is a subscription item or single pay. You can get it from a Toyota dealer or online.

Disconnect the unit from power to reset it and put the code in. You will then be able to use it as a radio.

Or just head off to the dealership and have a coffee while they set the whole thing up. It will take them about 20 minutes.

the radio is now locked as the power was cut off , this is a security device to stop radio's getting stolen as are no use unless you've got the code etc , contact a toyota dealer with the vehicle details they will be able to supply the relevent information, also you can try this link as has worked in the past for various vehicles

your map data was stored in the lost sd card and replacing that you wont find the data again so reinstall the map software

Make sure that you have the map installed first of all, or you have the SD card inserted correctly (if using one).

If that is OK, try resetting the device. To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

1. Charge your TomTom
   Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
   
2. Remove the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
   
3. Reset your device
   Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. The reset button is located on the underside of the device.
   
4. Turn your device on
   Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
   
5. Insert the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.

Nope, the data will stay there, you just insert the SD card, use the wrench symbol/select map/select about/ tick the Australia map on/the usa map off/ and you're garmin just went Aussie.

you need to reload the firmware in the unit and reload the map data on the SD card, this will fix your issues. as finedrive is not around anymore, here are the files:
