I am guessing a recent change or update to your Inspiron caused Media Direct to suddenly "freak out" on you. You are not alone and there is a safe, free solution provided by Dell.

1. Define your Dell notebook device model.
2. Define your operating system to install your Dell notebook device
3. Search notebook driver category
4. Find Dell notebook driver
5. Select Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
6. Download Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
7. Install Dell Inspiron E1505 notebook MediaDirect Repair Utility Application Windows XP
8. Restart or reboot your computer to finish your driver installation.

First hit ctrl-alt-del at the same task manager will open and you can shut it down there then go to control panel and click on add/remove programs, select media direct and click uninstall
