Did you ever determine the issue and/or resolve this? I'm having the same problem with my MF12569YEM after the power went out for an hour in the neighborhood tonight. Power's back on, but panel doing the same thing you describe and it also won't dispense water/ice.

We had to replace a light fixture necessitating turning off the power. After the power went on, the screen on our fridge was blank, and we couldn't hear a motor running. Pushing the buttons would light them up momentarily, but they would turn off immediately. We couldn't get ice or water. A beep was coming from the back panel. The compressor sounded as if it was attempting to turn over. We disconnected it for 5 minutes, then plugged it in. We left for an errand to Lowe's. An appliance person there helped us find the owner's manual on-line, and when we found nothing in the trouble-shooting area, she told us that she suspected it could just be going through a necessary cycle. When we returned all systems were go.

Unplug it for a couple of minutes, Try again. It may have been hit with a surge. IF that is the case, you are looking at main control board and some money. Contact your homeowners insurance if a surge has damaged it.

SOURCE: fridge/freezer not cool.

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

I believe your problem is an old thermostat or compressor !
How old is it?

My advice is do not put good money into bad!
A new fridge will pay for itself in a few years by using a lot less electricity!

Here is an interesting report I just read!

Repair or replace?

When to pull the plug on your old refrigerator

It nearly always makes sense to undertake simple do-it-yourself repairs,
such as replacing a gasket on a refrigerator or a freezer.

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems
in the owner's manual.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model?
The answer depends mostly on the age of your refrigerator,
how much you bought it for,and the cost of the repair.

Follow these guidelines:

When a repair makes sense.

If your refrigerator is under warranty or less than four years old (three years for top-freezers),
paying for a repair makes sense.
Note that refrigerators under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician;
readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice.

If your refrigerator is out of warranty and is four to seven years old,
it might make sense to pay for a repair. Customers generally pay $100 to $200 for a repair.
But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage,
given that today's models are quieter and have added features.
Higher energy efficiency is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008,
are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent
more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace.

The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new refrigerator.
Data also shows that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive top-freezer refrigerator
six or more years old or a bottom-freezer or side-by-side eight or more years old.

Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent
of a refrigerator you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to help!

Please remember to leave me a rating before you sign off!
Thank You, HUUUM

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL AMERICAN SIDE BY SIDE FRIDGE /FREEZER

I had probably the same problem. After a little discussion with the factory they sent a technician as a "Good Will Gesture." The technician told me it was the control board down by the compressor. I overheard a conversation between he and his central repair office that it was a common problem. The factory would not admit it. I have a feeling the electronic control board he replace (which would have cost several hundred bucks) was probably made in China. Now I'm having more problems with my Ohio made Whirlpool side-by-side. The freezer is working fine, the fridge is not very cold. By the way, the internal lights was one of the keys to the problems.

SOURCE: Samsung fridge freezer not working after power

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. I have to assume that the power loss / cut was very brief as you did not metnion a duration of the power cut / loss.
If it was a brief power loss then the compressor will not restart due to interanl coolant pressures. The system needs to stabilize for more than 10 minutes before the compressor can re-start. Your compressor has been trying to start and is now very hot from repeated starts most likely.
Try unplugging the unit for about 30 minutes and let it cool off and the coolant system to stabilize. After 30 minutes if it was from just a brief power loss it should re-start and work normally.

If the 30 minute wait does not work there is more than can be done to try and get the unit going again but will require the replacement of parts. Just respond here and I will help you. If you do require further assistance I or any other expert at FixYa will need to know your model number.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Samsung Fridge model RF217ACWP will not reset after power outage. Tried unplugging still will not work.

Hold down "Energy Saving" and "Lighting" buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds (or top left & right buttons). Display panel returns immediately. Or try pressing the power freeze and vacation buttons for about 3 secs and it worked great.

I have a whirlpool gold fridge and its flashing the po code why and how do I make it stop

PO stands for Power Outage. The fridge lost power for some reason. On my fridge I just hit "acknowledge" and it goes away. I don't own a whirlpool. Here's a page that lists different instructions for multiple different fridges in order to reset everything and turn off the PO light. http://removeandreplace.com/2016/02/02/refrigerator-display-panel-is-blank-not-working-how-to-reset/

Maytag frig model no mfi2569vem2 control panel not lit up and not coolong or freezing. light inside is on but dont here the motor running. we did have a power outage when issue occured

Sounds like the power outage took out your high voltage control board. This control board is located on the back of the fridge. Roll the fridge out of its position so you can get behind it. Once you have pulled out the fridge you will need to UNPLUG it. There will be a couple 1/4" screws securing the metal cover to the back left side of the fridge (if you are facing the back of it). Remove these screws to find another plastic cover which will need to be removed. This control board controls the fans and the compressor. You can take the control board out and look for a burn mark or a blown soldered fuse. According to your model number the control board part number is W10310240.

Why did the control panel go dark on my Maytag side by side refrigerator for a couple of hours?

Ron,
You're right to be concerned but I'd just keep an eye on it for the time being - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!! It's entirely possible that it's throwing a hissy fit after the power outages and it just needs peace and quiet so it can settle down!

Why won't my Kenmore dishwasher display work properly?

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Heating Element

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the heating element might have burned out. The heating element heats the water up to operating temperature. After a set amount of time if the temperature isn't reached a light on the control panel might start flashing. The heating element can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter.

Check Fault Codes

If the display lights are flashing and there is an error code in the display window, check the wiring diagram and tech sheet in the dishwasher that will provide information on the fault.

Drain Pump

If lights are flashing on the control panel, the drain pump might not be working properly. For two-wire drain pump motors check them for continuity using an Ohm meter. If it's defective You'll need to replace it. Drain pumps are not repairable.

Control panel not working Samsung refrigerator model rs2533sw. Not cooling.

I have a samsung refrigertor rs2555sl and my control panel stopped working after I turned the power off to the house (to install a light fixture elsewhere). There was one green light blinking on the refrigerator temp display.

Hold down the "power freeze" and "power cool" buttons at the same time for at least 8 seconds. This is a self diagnostic program. A number should appear on the refrigerator temp display (1-9)...it will hold for 30 seconds and then the panel should function again.

In my case the number that appeared was "3" which can indicate a multitude of things including a short circuit or power outage (which was it was for me).

Hope this helps!
