You need the flexible rotating contact that goes under the steering wheel, this is a dealer only item, the dealers and tech's call it a clock spring, remember it is the steering wheel airbag contact, u must disarm the airbag to replace this part, if you don't you can break your fricking neck if it goes off.

I just wired a new horn on my 97 Nissan and it won't work. I had wired the same horn weeks prior and it only worked for a week. The relay and fuse are good. Should I check the sterring wheel?

Make sure all your connections are good. If the horn relay clicks when you push the horn, you're getting power to it but you might not be getting power out. Get a test light and make sure you have juice at the relay going to the horn and at the horn connections.

You have all the informations to find your problem. jump a wire on connector X4 G1 tan wire to ground and check X1 E5 with a test light or multimeter to see if there is a output, you should have 12 volts. If you dont have any voltage the horn relay is defective. I check in the shop manual and the relay come with the underhood fuse block.

Horn only works when steerin wheel is turned to the right

This problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work.

Removing steering wheel from 1986 model ford xlt spectron van automatic

first off the center cover needs to be removed from the steerin wheel. some can be pulled off and some have screws on the back side you remove then the cover will come off. once you determine that be careful the covers have control wires that are attached to it that go into the column. gently push in on the connector and turn counter clock wise and the wire will come out with the cover.you can usually rent a steerin whell puller from your local parts store and and use it to remove the steerin wheel after you have removed the nut holdin the steerin wheel on. if you dont have the puller, you can back the nut off to where its flush with the steerin shaft, then turn counter clock wise approximately another quarter turn and take a hammer and strike the nut and this usually breaks the steering wheel lose from the shaft. let me know.

The horn will not sound

You will need to check the fuse to the horn that should be located under the steering wheel or near the floorboard.

Steerin wheel is hard of my ford tempo car . i

Hi:
If you have power steering, first check to see if you have fluid in the power steering reservoir. If you don't have power steering, you most likely have binding in the rack and pinion unit, and that has to be replaced as an assembly, and is a bit pricey, so check your fluid first.

If the fluid is full the power steering pump could be bad, but usually they growl, and are noticeable.
