SOURCE: fan and compressor run but coils not cold and no

If your compressor is running but the coils are not getting cold, then you have a problem in your refrigerant circuit.....Most likely a restriction or a leak with a leak being the more likely of the two.

Hi,

There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.

Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier

Golstar dehumidifer

Either you are under sized. or it is over heating. 50 pint should be used in 1000sqft area. it maybe over heating or the vents maybe plugged one of these is your problem.

I have a Goldstar GHD30 dehumidifer that I bought used last week. It's pulling 20-30 pints of water each day out of my basement so it appears to be working. The compressor only runs for 1-2 minutes at a...

yes cycles should be longer either that or the unit is keeping close to desired humidity. Also the unit is under sized 30 pint is for 400sqft. or 20 by 20 room. humidity should be 30/50 percent check your level desired room temp is 70 degrees but its a basemnt 60 works.

Dehumidifier throws off hot air making the room very warm. Is that normal?

Yes! A dehumidifier is an entire AC system in one box. First the air passes thru a very cold coil causing moisture in the air to condense and run away. Then the air is re-heated thru a hot coil (the other half of the AC) and blown back into the room. The net result MUST be a net increase in temperature because of the heat added by the mechanical process.

LG LHD45EL

The temperature sensor on teh suction return line from the coil has drifted out of spec and needs to be replaced. This sensor is part of the sensor assembly which plugs into the control board. I purchased the part from Appliance Factory Parts on line, cost about $30, an hour or 2 to change depending on your mechanical level, it is easy to do. For Goldstar DH404E part # was 6877A30013M, they are same part for many models but if this is not the right # for your model just get the right "sensor assembly" for your model and change it out. It consists of Temp/humidy sensor in coil, temp sensor in suction return line, and plug harness that goes to float switch. My uni is running like new again.

No water in tank

have you turned them off, waited a long time, and restarted? if yes, but still problem, both have developed freon leaks. the coils may have "frozen over", verified by looking at them-do they appear frosty? caused by humidistats that are not functioning properly (starting to corrode)...try turning down the stats to allow motors to rest (and frost to melt)
