Trhe printer has stopped working completely

The screen on the computer says Error - Printer Error see your documentation and call service if necessary

The red exclamation mark is illuminated I have tried switching off several times without success

If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it. important.gif Important: If resetting the printer's power does not clear the error or return the machine to a functioning state, it may be necessary to attempt a service reset. for instructions to attempt a service reset.

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.

Service Reset:
  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second to power off the printer. (The display will go blank.)

    Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

  2. Confirm the printer is not on and then unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    If the power cord was disconnected (as stated in step 1) in order to shut off the printer, go to step 3.

  3. Press the <ON/OFF> button repeatedly five times.

  4. Re-connect the power cord.

  5. Press the <ON/OFF> button to power the printer back on.

  6. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
Solution:2 Load documents properly into the MX310 document feeder

Load the documents properly into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Fan the documents and then align the edges before loading them into ADF.
  1. Remove all documents from the ADF.

  2. Fan out the sheets of paper well so that they do not stick together.

  3. Stack the documents on a flat surface to align the edges of the paper.
  4. Insert the top of the document, face up, into the ADF until a beep is heard.

Ensure that the edge of the document stack is in line with the Paper Size Mark (A) imprinted on the Document Tray.

Printer error ====> see your documentation and call for service if necessary. how do you fix this?

The error code may or may not be helpful if they are provided at all in the documentation. I would try just completely reseting the printer. Unplug, reconnect all the cables and unload and reload paper etc. Fresh start - Also make sure the printer driver software is compatible with the computer you are using. Printer software can typically be downloaded from the manufactures website very easily and installed. Just select your printer model and computer and the online screens should guide you through the process. let me known if you need further assistance:) Hope this is helpful :)

Get error message "Printer error: see your documentation and call service if necessary."

I found this on another website and it worked for me. It apparently resets the printer. Hope it works for you:

1.) power on (error message)
2.) press the "Stop (triangle)" and the "Colour copy" button and hold them
3.) press the power button to power off, still hold 2.)
4.) press the power button to power on, still holding 2.)
5.) the LEDs start to flash, then they stop to flash and the red exclamation mark starts to flash. Now release 2.)

6.) the LED should say: "Init EEprom"
7.) now press and hold the power button until the printer powers off and powers on again.

Printer not working at all

It's simple. After you know this, you will use it again. This happened to me 3 times now. And yes, even today as I am typing this. This prosedure is the "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" for this printer.

1. Press the Stop button and the Color button together.
2. While holding those down, press and hold the Off button. Printer will shut off. Keep holding all three buttons until the screen stops flashing.
3. Let go of the buttons and press the Color button, then press the Off button and hold until it switches back on.
