SOURCE: Pool cleaner only goes in circles; doesn't clean the whole pool

could be a number of problems. The most common problem is the turbine bearings have failed. You will have to disassemble it to check them. A fix is a turbine kit with A-frames. This kit has all the moving parts excluding the turn valve. If your cleaner is going around in circles and twisting the hose, its likely you have a bad bearing or so on either the turbine, a-frames or both.

SOURCE: Navigator Pool Cleaner: My Hayward pool cleaner just goes in small circles...

Check all of the following. Ones of these issues is probably causing your pool cleaner to go in circles. Let me know if these soultions don't work and I will be glad to offer more solutions, but I a think one of these might solve your problem:

1. You might not have proper water flow. Too much or too little pressure will cause this to happen. Check the pressure with your flow gauge and adjust if necessary.

2. Check for a partial blockage of the navigator throat. If you have a blockage, it could disrupt the movement of your cleaner. Clear blockage if necessary.

3. Check the shoes and wings. Damage or wear to them can disrupt your patterns of cleaning. If you notice that your shoes or wings are worn, replace them to correct the problem.

4. Check to make sure that your hose is not twisted. It should be clear of kinks, twists, and knots. Untangle if necessary. Laying the hose out in the sun will make it more pliable and easier to untangle if you need to do this.

5. Other things that could cause steering issues: check and clean the rear screen, check to see that the cone gear is is free and rotates smoothly, clean/replace/repair gear box, check pod connection, and check turbine and spindle assembly.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need clarification or additional help!

SOURCE: Hayward pool cleaner just goes in circle

If these automatic pool cleaners are moving in circles, it is usually an obstruction in the connection hose. Check the hose to make sure that there are not any knots or kinks that might not be immediately visible. Also, check to make sure that you don't have a partial blockage in either the cord or the throat. You will also want to check the return to make sure it is not allowing too much water to get to the cleaner. You might need to adjust the rear tension flap. Too much tension could cause the cleaner to go in circles. Finally, make sure that the wings and shoes are properly installed.

SOURCE: polaris in pool cleaner back water single spout not water passing

Check your wheel RPM. With these automatic pool cleaners, you can manually adjust the RPM. Low RPM could be the cause of the problem. To check the RPM, first mark a single wheel side tire, Turn the pump on, hold the cleaner under water and count the wheel revolutions for one minute. If the RPM is less than 28, you might need to remove the blue restrictor disk from the UWF or adjust the gate valve on the booster pump. Also, this may sound simple, but make sure there is no debris lodged in the wheels/axles. Check your filter screen in your in-line filter and make sure that it is clear of debris. You will also want to check your hoses, connections, and swivel to make sure that there are no leaks.

With these automatic pool cleaners, if they are not staying firmly on the bottom of the pool, it is most likely that there is air in the appliance casing.Try submerging your cleaner. Keep the cleaner vertical while you are putting it in slowly to let the air out. Ensure the unit sinks to the bottom of the pool.

Overall poor performance 1. does not go to both sides of pool 2. either hangs up on stairs or after adjusting sits and spins on stair / sides 3.

If the pool cleaner does not cover the entire pool, check the hose length reaches within 6" of the farthest point of the pool. Set your thrust jet for 11:00 position. This will optimize random turning. If it is hanging on the stairs, check the pool cleaners wheel RPM. It should be between 28-32. Verify that the back-up valve is cycling.

My polaris is doing circles. it appears the single wheel doesnt move like it used to

i've just discovered i have this same issue with my polaris 3900. the machine is less than 3 months old. there is a small metal "gear" in the wheel hub just behind the blue "hub cap". a single screw holds it on the axle. it appears that the gear has worn the out around the hub causing it to slip and not be able to drive the wheel.. it appears that the solution would be to buy another wheel.

My polaris 3900 moves across the pool with the front wheel of the bottom, the wheel on the 1 wheel side and the back wheel are on the bottom.

Check your wheel RPM. If the pool cleaners RPM is over 32, reduce the water flow so that the cleaner makes proper contact with the pool's surface. Verify the back-up valve is cycling. Lift the valve out of
the water and watch the jet. It should come on and go off. You might also need to adjust your thrust jet if it is causing the cleaner to lean too far to one side.

Machine keeps going around in circles jet at back is going straight back?

Few different things can cause this. Wheel bearings can be bad, tires worn, teeth on gears inside wheels stripped or broken, or the teeth on drive shaft worn or broken. Low pressure or clogged line can also cause to run sparatic, but not necessarily in circles. Most likely problem is with bearings, or wheels. Check these closely for problems. Most pool stores with check it and replace parts (that you purchase) for free.

My Polaris 3900 Sport Pool Cleaner's doing tight circles in the pool because the single left-side wheel is not turning at all, while the 2 right wheels are turning normally. How do I fix it?

I had a similar issue. When I lifted the unit out of the water while it was operating only the single wheel was rotating. I turned it off and removed the bag and hose. I flipped it over on a workbench and unscrewed the three recessing screws securing the base plate. Once the plate was removed I noticed the metal chain driving the two wheels had come off on the far side of the inner sprocket. I worked the chain back onto the sprocket and tested it by rotating the single wheel and verifying the other two wheels rotated. After reassembly I put the unit back in the pool and it drove straight and high on the sides. Hope this helps someone :-)
