It sounds that, the memory IC to your TV has damaged. This IC can be located very near to main system control IC. A very small one, with 8 solder terminals. Even though it is very small, function of it while the TV works is great. The work is a semi-skilled one, and you must have some knowledge in electronics to proceed.
The power supply board of the Television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV
up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors.
Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although
were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of
preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected
due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Power supply filter capacitors and smoothing capacitors have warped. There will be some bad FET's, Diodes, and pull-up resistors too that need replacing. You can send us the board and we can repair it for you if you like.....
Your having a DC switching and regulation problem, its very common in these Akai models. I have repaired over 800 Akai LCD tv's so far since 2006. they all seem to have had the same fault scenario related to a similar problem like the one your having....

There is a burnt capacitor somewhere in the unit. Look for any burnt or swelled up capacitors. You can also usually locate a bad cap if there is burn marks on the system board. Also test power supply with voltmmeter to make sure it is a constant volt reading.
had a very similar situation with my Phillips 42 in. LCD TV.
Here was my Problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened it up( Warranty
was Expired) and found several faulty capacitors on the PSB. Its
pretty common. Major Electronic companies were sold faulty capacitors
that fail in 2-5 years instead of 10-20 due to a lack of
preservatives. It wouldn't surprise me if you have the same problem.
TV will work fine for a few years and then just fail completely or
slowly deteriorate.
Here are the solutions
1. Have it Repaired
2. Check for faulty caps and if you find some(budged or leaking) you know you have located a problem
Remove the board and replace the whole thing.
3. If you have some soldering skills you can replace the faulty caps.
Caps are very inexpensive, under a dollar in most cases. I replaced 4 for about $5.00
No did not get it fixed I am in the process of moving from NJ to SC and don't have time this couldn't have happened at a better time.I will just move it broke. Cheers William Ash
