SOURCE: TV makes chirping noise, won't turn on!

That usually means a problem in the start up or deflection circuits. Diode, Horizontal ouput or driver transformer. What Chassis is this set, and I will be ableto give you some better information. Rca , GE and phillips need to be diagnosedwith the chassis number. Let me know the chassis.

SOURCE: PTAC UNIT QUIT WORKING

If you have a clamp tester, operate the unit with the clamp tester and check the current reading. If the current reading is normal but the reset button is tipped then there is something wrong withe power plug reset button. But if the current reading is higher than the name plate rating then there is something wrong with the unit.

SOURCE: year old advent netbook 4211b will not turn on,

When you press power button press F1 or F2 or "del" key if you can see bios screen then you not need to refix RAM memory or reset bios.
IF you can see bios screen then lake sure harddisk is detected and SATA is disable then save settings and exit.
Also when you power up press F8 key if you able to see safe mode and other menu then you have change screen resolution enter in enable vga mode.
Then open control panel and display then change scree resolution to 1024*768.
Then apply and ok.
But if you can't see bios screen or nothing in dispaly then you have to refix RAM memory .
Check in back side there is 1 plate open it then refix RAM memory.
If still not get display then open back cover of laptop then find motherbord on it then pull cmos cell for 10 minutes so all settings go to defaults then again refix cmos cell then check.

Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

My Amana PTAC PTC153B00AM has no power at all. It is wall plugged, but no lights come on on the board. It was working fine and showed no signs of going bad. Can this be a blown fuse or transformer?

Check the GFI plug where it plugs into the wall and reset it. Also, plug something else into that plug to make sure you didn't pop the circuit breaker

I have an Amana PTAC ac 15000 BTU that has stopped, the power cord keeps tripping. I removed the power cord and plugged it in to the socket and the breaker did not trip, any clues. I'm thinking of jus

I think you've gotton your moneys worth with ten trouble free years. The power cords safety device is a bit more sensitive to a high resistive short to ground than your breaker is. I would suggest that there is exactly that: a high resistive short to ground within the cabinet of the PTAC. It has been years since I have been on a PTAC call and am unable to suggest specifics. But if you are competent and capable of using a DVOM, open up the unit and begin a systematic approach of determining the problem.

The FIRST thing I'd do is check the motor and the compressor with a digital megohmeter. Sometimes their problem will only show up with this sensitive device.

My Amana PTAC allows outside air to come through the entire unit (everywhere). I think that maybe the outside air vent, which is closed) is not secure. Would there be a problem with screwing it shut w

If you can get to the fresh air vent, and it is open, plug it by any means necessary, as long as it's safe. It will not affect the overall operation of the unit.

My 7yr old Amana PTAC unit, Model PTH123B50AJ sometimes works and sometimes not. I had a repair tech check it & he told me the control board was bad and they wanted $440 to fix it. I told him no,

EBay often has the control boards for Amana heat pumps, and installing them is fairly straightforward, provided you have some experience with electronics, a soldering iron, etc. Amanapartsonline.com may also be able to sell you the part, which should run between $50 and $150.

Given, however, that the thermostat is also showing problems, as well as what parts are going for these days, I'd seriously consider upgrading to a new unit and selling the old one on Craigslist to offset the cost a bit. If you can find an HVAC technician, someone who's learning HVAC, someone who just wants it for a guestroom where it need not work perfectly or a landlord who can afford to have a secondhand unit fixed and put it in one of their properties for their tenants to buy your fixable old one for a few hundred dollars and a new one only runs about $700, your upgrade will cost less than having the 7-year-old unit repaired, plus you'll be recycling.

House wont cool ..tried to reset breaker in fuse box and breaker outside...this unit is only just over a yr old . the fan thing outdoors is not kicking on..

Does this unit have 2 breakers to it? The model you put down is a PTAC and generally just plugs in to the wall so it would have only 1 breaker. If I recall correctly it's got a 5 year warranty on parts so it may be worth it to check with your local HVAC tech and have them do a diagnostic for you. A good place to start would be Amana who can tell you the authorized service company in your area. They'll get the part for free and should roll the diag fee into the repair cost so you'll only pay for labor (if it even needs a part). Their sales and service number is: 1-800-647-2982. Here's a link to your warranty info:

You need a new control board. The relays go out on these. If your unit is less than a year old then you should still be under warranty. Unless you did not send in the warranty card, then the company only warrants the unit for 1 year after the mfg. date. You will need to provide the serial and part number to find out from Amana. The new control boards are much better by the way, and worse come to worse, they are only $130. Please let me know if this has helped in any way.
