LG LMHM2017SW microwave-when the door is shut I get random numbers, symbols showing up on the screen. It would go back to normal if I opened and re closed the door but not anymore. Is it worth a fix?

Open it up and see if it is making good connections to the circuit boards! Front display. Maybe a loose connection!

SOURCE: microwave door

It sounds like the mount which holds tension on your door latch heads (door hooks) is broken. You can confirm that by pushing up on the door hook. If it goes up with no real resistance, the spring is unhooked. Fixing that would require disassembly of the door (by separating the panels) and repairing or replacing either the door hook assembly or the door panel inside.

SOURCE: Door latches to microwave broken

I assume you're talking about the spring that keeps tension on the door hooks (latch heads, as they're called by Sharp). When you shut the door, the "hooks" are held down by this spring to actuate the door switches. To fix this, you'll have to separate the door panels. You can download the service manual from my Web site. There's a loop built into the latch head assembly and sometimes the loop breaks. If so, you can drill a tiny hold in it and reattach the spring there. There may also be a loop on the innner door panel to hold the spring. That one can break, too. If it's broken, you'll have to find a way to secure the spring to the panel. If the panel material is thick enough, a tiny screw eye could be inserted, then epoxied overnight to secure it. I've attached a diagram to this message that should help you. If that doesn't help you, I have the service manual for the R1600-series microwaves on my Web site at: http://www.microwavedisplay.com/R1610.pdf Repost if you need more help.

SOURCE: LG LMVM1935SB Microwave won't heat anymore!

With these symptoms, I would suspect you have a bad magnetron.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Some manufacturers will send you the magnetron to do it yourself. If nothing else, you can save about $75 by taking it to the shop yourself.

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html (if it is NOT shorted, it's probably fine)
http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/mag_test.html (continuity can be good even though it is bad!)

SOURCE: LG Microwave won't turn off

Our LG did the same thing - called customer service and they told us the open and slam the door 10 times. It actually worked! It reset the switches somehow.

Microwave showing FO1 when turn on all switches

this code normally means defective keypads. test it and replace if necessary, follow this steps . God bless you
  1. Controller is confused A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
  2. Defective Interlock switches This can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
  3. Cleaning Cleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave

My lg microwave fan starts when I open the door

Maybe not (unless it cooks when the door is opened) but any defect needs to be addressed!

I would suspect a problem with a door switch or mount. The door switch help file is here.

If we knew what your model number was, we could possibly give you a link to the service manual.

So we can only give you generic help.

See these links before proceeding:
http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/safety.txt
http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt

Here's a YouTube video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If this is not enough to help, then please post a new help request with your full model number from the tag in or on the oven, and detailed symptoms.

My microwave oven from LG MG 604 W has now starting problem, when we open the door the light is on and even the display is okay we can set the timer but when we press the start button it doesn't start...

The owner's manual should tell you what that symbol means.

If for some reason you don't still have yours, you can download it here.

I would suspect a bad door switch or door switch mount.

You should see my text file on door switches for more information.

You can order LG parts from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Door latch and Screen

This is because of the broken latch. There are switches inside the oven that are operated by the door latches to make sure you're not trying to use the oven with the door open. With the new door, your oven should be back to normal.

Door of microwave wont shut

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

We have critical safety & disassembly info at our site, linked here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

If you need to order parts, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit here.

After you look into this, if you still need help, please write back with your model number and more details.

Worried mother

MOM! When you say" Front Panel Door Seperates". Do you mean the front PLASTIC escuteon, or door cover? There is no seal as such like a gasket. The metal shield,or screen that you look through into your microwave is the seal. A microwave,( if it could be seen) is about the diameter of a pencil. It is neither gas, or liquid thus it cannot squeeze through openings smaller than it's diameter. So! the small openings or holes (That you look through) in the front screen of your microwave door are seen as solid metal by a microwave and the microwave is reflected back into the cavity. The only safety issue is damage to the screen.

Error code F6

Please post back with your your full model number. It will be three digits, then a dot, then about eight more digits.

Once we have that, we can figure out who made it for Kenmore, then look up the F6 code.
