You don't specify what brand and model of fan. However, I can tell you that it is a common problem - especially among older models. A while back I talked with a Hunter service guy and his answer was this: There can be several causes, including some loose piece of insulation or other FOD (foreign object damage) inside the motor. However, the most common cause is that the bearings get worn (for which he said there was no "official" cure or repair kit).
I have had some success balancing the blades. [Dynamic balance by attaching small weights (coins or washers) - or removing the blades and doing a static balance. Dynamic balancing is better. Make sure any weights are WELL attached, since at high fan speeds they become serious projectiles.] Note that this will help, but the problem will come back.
Bottom line, the mfr wants you to buy a new fan. Replacing the motor with an old motor frequently doesn't help - because it has the same problem. Some older, and very expensive fans, have lifetime warranties and will replace the motor. However, I discovered that many times they define "lifetime" as the life of the fan, not the owner. If they product is no longer sold, then it's past the lifetime.
Last thing: Make sure it really *is* the fan making the noise. If the blades are unbalanced, then the fan may be rocking slightly on it's hang-point (where it is attached to the ceiling) and that may be making the noise.
Have you searched the Internet? You can find just about anything concerning just about anything on it. If not, try one of the home improvement stores or maybe you have a store near where you live that carries Concord fans.
If none of this results in success, you may be able to find a "universal kit" to install on your fan.
Ceiling fans usually come with dedicated remotes. So not sure what purpose would be served by having the code. These are not TV remotes where you can program other audio visual devices like DVD player, amplifier etc.
For the concord ceiling fans you can purchase one of three remote controllers shown on this site. You also have to buy the corresponding receiver unit that sits on top of the fan rod near the ceiling. Controls Accessories
we had a similar problem happen with our Hampton Bay Renaissance fan. It turns out that the warranty does not cover this by the way. The lifetime warranty you refer to is only on the fan motor. This is common with most fan manufacturers- just wanted to let you know about this because I think your interpretation of the warranty is wrong.
This fan is really hard to find and so are the parts for it. I would recommend trying to call Home Depot where you bought it or call the Hampton Bay customer support phone number. You're likely going to have to go through one of those mediums. I feel that the second thing (calling technical support for Hampton Bay) will probably connect you to Home Depot too because Hampton Bay is a house brand of Home Depot.
probably the ball stud mounted on the nylon sphere. they will sqeak in time. A small shot of WD40 may help but keep a rag on hand to keep your lube job clean
