I turn on monitor, and no menu buttons work, or show with osd. And screen is cycling sold screen colors. I cant find anything about that anywhere on HP site or anywhere.
Plz help
Thanks
This can happen if the minus button which happens to also be the auto image-adjust button is effectively grounded due to some internal fault or
if the switch itself has got jammed internally. In this case, if video signal is present, the motitor reproduces the image but continuously displays "adjusting" as osd message. If video signal is missing, the monitor cycles through solid colors in the black, red, green, blue, white sequence. I think this is part of the hp f1532 design to help the service
engineer( though I have not found any reference to it in official documentation yet). In this special case( minus button grounded), the
menu button is ignored by the monitor.

This was suggested as a possible answer to my question of the "Quick View" menu cycling. Once I flicked the "-" button a few times I was able to fix the problem (at least temporarily).
By flicking the "-" or minus button a few times, you managed to temporarily
By flicking the "-" or minus button a few times, you managed to temporarily unshort the button which was jammed internally, so this confirms what I said earlier(i.e. June 2010 !)

Does another monitor work on the computer?
If another monitor works, then it is your monitor that is bad and must be replaced.
Of course, if the other monitor exhibits the same behavior, then it's the video card in the computer. But I would say that is not very likely.
You say it instantly goes to the color cycling. That would mean you don't even have a chance to get to the O/S.
The monitor does not have a chipset as far as I know.
It's basically like a CRT--takes the image from the video card and displays it.
There is circuitry within it, of course, to direct the colors to the LCD crystals. There is also a power supply but as long as you are seeing something, that's not it. Not the flourescent light, either--or it would be really dim.
If you have successfully displayed the O/S on another external monitor, then this monitor is hosed!

It stays on, power switch light stays green, and solid, like normal. And when on, it instantly goes to the cycle of colors. The whole screen will be red, then blue, then green, then yellow, white, black over and over. And no button responds and there is no form of osd.
Its not the pc, I have it ran into a 32in plasma. And no, i never see the o.s.
I am actually attempting to salvage this for a friend.
But its such a bizzare thing that it does that I don't know what area of the monitor to diagnose. Its not the power supply, not the actual screen, it has all red, green and blue colors working well. Its as if the chipset with the firmware is wiped. That is if it has one. I just hate to see nice items not work, and usually the answer is right in front of me.
I appreciate the help, if anyone has came across this
tell me what became of the monitor.
Thanks
When you turn on the computer, what do you see on the monitor? Does the computer stay on?
