If it is just half of the screen and the rest is black- you need a new screen. If it is half the screen all squished together (you can see the whole desktop) you need to reload the video driver

SOURCE: I just replaced the LCD screen on a Dell laptop,

you may need to check the cable connection from your motherboard to the lcd which u can find under the plastic panel above the keyboard. towards the right of the power button u will find a small hold with which u can use ur finger to get the plastic panel out... under which u will find two screws for the keyboard.. unscrew them to see the connector and re-seat the cable.. it should work .. if it does not.. u'l have to get the lcd panel replaced again.. the lcd kit is faulty that means.

Price of Dell Inspiron 9200 lcd panel?

Yes! but it is a good idea to hook a spare monitor to the video output first to make sure there is no problem, if okay! replace the LCD screen. Go to www.ebay.com Type: make and model of the laptop and refine search to screen, a list of sellers will pop up showing the prices.

My dell inspiron E1505's screen only half showing

Generally an indication of an LCD failure. You can try reseating the LCD cable under the keyboard, see if it makes any difference. If no change, then replace the LCD

Display on my Dell 710M has started having vertical lines on half the screen. everthing else fine. need new display?

Vertical lines on half the screen:
Usually the display ribbon cable or the LCD display. At the shop we find out replacing ribbon cable first.
In some rare occasion it can be the display adapter built on the motherboard. You can test the video adapter connecting the laptop to an external display.

Screen problm bcoz of broken

- if an LCD screen is broken, it would show white patches. - Ensure that the display is not in demo mode. (Usually in Demo, one half would be normal, where as the other would be a preview of some custom setting - Check the display controls below the LCD Screen to change them.
Please try these first, then you can go for a replacement, if these don't help
