Is it by any changes an LG ? if so its the main av board at fault LG's and some other tv makes have a brightness control that is controlled only by the tv, its to stop light flicker when changing channels and accessing menus. its because the channel change changes screen out put from say 1080i/p to 470 in a split second.

First, average life on these sets is about 3 to 4 years at best and only boards are sold so even if you can pin point the board (no individual parts are sold) it is likely if will not get fixed and doing so is a bad investment as all the boards are now old.

My Vizio LCD TV screen fades to dark. Sound stays on.

I w having this same issue when watching a Blu-Ray disc. I found it to be dependent upon what picture mode the TV was set to. By this I mean certain picture modes would cause the TV to dim during dark scenes of a movie. Changing the picture mode helped a lot.

It might be that it is going to a default setting when you lose power. See what happens if you select the default setting yourself. Perhaps there is someway you can get the set to except a new default setting?

PS2 Picture Problem

Hi MG86,

Most PS2 games are dark and auto brightness controls will casue your LCD tv to brighten up automatically in response the dark video coming from PS2 games. I suggest you get into the menu settings of your TV and find a setting that will shut off the auto picture controls.
