My guess is, either the fluorescent bulb or the ballast has failed.

Its the capacitors on the backlight power supply. Samsung installed crappy ones and they blow up after a year or two. Change out the caps and you're good to go

SOURCE: Samsung 214t syncmaster flickering

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitorswill blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts calledcapacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you aregood at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm You can take the back cover off your monitor and look for the bad parts, replace any that look like the pictures and your monitor should workfine. We just posted a repair guide showing how to remove the case ansreplace the parts. The capacitors do need to be installed with thecorrect + and -connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new one thesame way. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

SOURCE: when i turn on my samsung lnt5271 the screen seems

This sounds like a repair issue. I do not believe there is any in-home troubleshooting that you can try that will fix that particular issue. I would call Samsung tech support to see what their opinion of the problem is. Their number is 800-726-7864.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

SOURCE: Delphi XpressRC XM Radio backlight problem

Same thing happened to mine until it permanently went dark - no brightness. Problem is with the LCD display that is defective. As this model does not have a separate filament bulb unlike the non color model, it cannot be repaired. Likely too expensive to replace the color LCD display if avalaible. Next one I buy will be a non color version which has separate bulb.

The LCD screen on my Gateway M-6317 is dim. How

Press and hold the 'FN' key and tap the key that has the picture of a sun and an up arrow (or some other similar picture that dictates brightness - there should be two different keys that affect brightness one to increase and the other to decrease). Once you have the brightness set to your liking quit tapping the 'brightness' key and release the 'fn' key

Screen flickering when turning on laptop and sometimes the laptop turns on after flickering and sometimes doesn't turn on at all after flickering. Just stays black.

You may have a faulty inverter or loose power inverter connection. OR
You may have a defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Dim monitar with flickering screen

Hello,

The problem can be caused by 1 of 2 things either your power supply is going out or the backlight bulbs are going out. The most likely cause is the power supply. If you are willing to do a little soldering you should be able to do the repair. If you go to our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have a section on monitor repair. Look under the Samsung 930B it is the same as your monitor.
If you don't want to do it yourself we do offer a repair service, email me if you are in need of that.

I hope this helps.
