there are thousands of connections on the edge of the LCD panel and these can come loose, if that is the case you can check it by pressing on the top of the screen near the edge to see if they go away, if they do you can try to shim it and get pressure back on the connections to stop the problem..

All plasma an lcd tvs have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables.
IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........
ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..
