How do I know when my new Navman GPS System is fully charged

Can you charge it from the cigarette lighter cord? I'm thinking some GPS will neither charge nor run from a USB power source. Garmin, I believe, uses USB only for updates, not as a power supply.

Best to charge unit from Mains or Computer USB, then you know it's fully charged. Navman has charge in battery but you need to fully charge it yourself , then you know where you are.

a few things to ensure

1) battery is fully charged
2) Thed correct BAUD rate and PORT are set ( see manual)
3) You are oiutside and there is a clear view of the sky.

Still failing? Then possible damaged SIIRF chip caused by starting engine while plugged into power socket

Make sure battery is fully charged before using A low battery power will cause it to say stupid things like turn left when it should be turn right etc

Most common reasons for this is that your battery level is low. Make sure it is fully charged before use.

Have you tried another charger? its likely charger fault or gps internal short circuit. does gps unit switch on at all?

Remove SD card and place the Navman on a soft surface face down so that you do not scratch the LCD screen. - Take out 4 screws ONLY. 2 under the gps antenna and two hidden black discs at either side of the bottom on back of unit,Make sure you use a small Philips screwdriver.
- Use your finger nail very carefully around the edges, go extremely slow to detach the cover. Once it opens, make sure of the Power switch button, they seem to fall off.
- Remove clear tapes at the battery connector. DO NOT pull up the connector, you need to pull sideways and make sure do not use excessive pressure while pulling.
- Place the new battery in same manner and also place battery cables neatly so that the do not come in the way while closing the cover. The LCD display should turn on. If it does not, look at the Battery connector and make sure it is all the way in.
- Put the cover back slowly and then make sure nothing is dangling along the edges. Do not forget to check the Power Switch button; it should be in proper place. Press the cover firmly, it should snap in place.
- Charge the battery fully before using Navman.
- Insert SD card. You may need to reload Navman application software or restore from SD card, if you stored on the SD card previously.

that is probably due to the battery being totaly dead,
try using a mobile phone charger (nokia),
usb is for data transfers.

Low or flat battery. Connect to mains charger and fully charge.
