It sounds like your grandson found the "monochrome" setting in the menu on your remote. It may be in the "picture settings", "set-up" or "advanced" setting.

Front panel blocked or locked

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again? RCA 32" TV - Model #32F531T - Faded to black

Isolate filament voltage from CRT,i.e. unplug Crt socket from pix tube.Measure filament voltage on CRT PCB.If present, suspect bad pix tube.If missing, solder any/all connects in filament circuit, meaning CRT board first then main PCB.
