Garmin frozen I need help to unfreeze my garmin 265. it wont turn off and none of the funtions are working..Its frozen

have you tried a rest? if not do that, to do a reset hold the power slider to the left for 10 seconds this will set the GPS back to factory settings, if that doesn't cure the problem you must send the GPS back to Garmin for service, there are no user serviceable parts on the unit, you can't even take the two halves apart without special tools or you will ruin it. Below you will find a link to the out of warranty Garmin web page to start the repair process should the reset not work.

it does have an internal battery, but that normally wont prevent it
from turning on unless the battery is defective.

plug it in to the usb cable on your computer for a while (normally it will start right up) then slide to power switch to the on position for about ten seconds.

if that fails, press and hold the lower right corner of the screen and then slide the power switch to the on position while holding the lower right corner of the screen and follow the directions once it starts

i can give you something else to try before you go and spend money on a battery...a battery should be the last thing to do, even though it will more often then not fix the problem thats tempory..

if it turns out you think you need a battery, i will point you to one with instructions on how to change it.

I read the manual. There is a reset button underneath the plastic cover surrounding the screen (pry off w/ your thumb) -- push the reset if the power can't be turned off otherwise.

Look near the SN # and press the reset button.

I had the same problem but I think I fixed it by NOT sharing my phonebook.

You need to get a toothpick or needle and push it in the small hole on the side that says RESET. This will unfreeze your system and reset it. You won't lose any files. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T TRY TO STICK THE TOOTHPICK IN THE MICROPHONE HOLE. Make sure that it's the RESET hole!!!!! Good luck.
