    M.B IS 1.5 YEARS LATE
    TELLING op HAS BAD HDD.
    OR infected oS.

    test the hdd first
    2004 made PC
    now 15 years old
the CMOS RTC battery is now dead
and next will be HDD with doomed S.M.A.R.T
    HDd test errors next

    age matters, first. ok?

of your HDD is dead, there will be no data
that is why gawd invented backups.
all HDD die some in 5 short years.
plan on that and never lose data ever.
    ok> PLAN Ahead.

BEST AMSWER. BUT WAY TOO LATE
    GET IT REPAIRED
ASK TECH TO BACK UP YOUR DATA FIRST
THAT COSTS MONEY DONE TOO LATE.
    THEN TEST THE HDD NEXT.
NEVER INSTALL UNSTATED OS ON TO ANY BAD HDD.
    DOOMED.

Hi

Dell Dimension 3000 accepts IDE hard drive. Any modern IDE drive should be fine

Check out Dell Dimension 3000 Service Manual for spec and how to remove and install parts.

SOURCE: i need a new processor and motherboard for a dell dimension 3000

As posted by Smithbrother, you can't just put any motherboard in a Dell--the case and motherboard are built for each other. You would be better off buying another computer. A new motherboard means a different processor (like you want). This means a different, higher speed memory.
You can have a system built by a local computer person or browse some of the sites (you can go to Dell for some real deals--as well as other company sites).
Any new system will not have "only pci slots." The new boards will have PCI-E slots for your video, but will also have some PCI slots for expansion.
Cost? That's hard to say. I have to do an estimate for each of my clients depending on just what they want.

SOURCE: Clear cmos Dell dimension 3000. It don't have pin or jumper

Open the case and locate the CMOS battery. Just nest to it should be a button or jumper. Press the button or remove the jumper, then start the machine.

If it's a jumper, turn the machine off once more and replace the jumper before continuing.

SOURCE: Dell Dimension 5100c Model: DCCY will not boot.

Hi,

Is the power button a steady abmber light?

If so follow the instruction below>>>>

Remove the power cord from the back of the computer. Then open the side casing of the tower and unplug the 24 pin block connector from the motherboard. The 24 pin block connector looks like this >>>>>

0b6066f.jpg

Once removed press the on/off button on the computer to dispel and residual power from the motherboard.
Then connect the block connector again and put the side panel back on and then plug the power cord back in and try to boot the computer up.

If its still the same then the power supply inside the computer may need replacing.

Good luck.

Dell dimension 8300 power switch will not turn on

You could have a faulty switch mode power supply.
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Hello,

What you can do is to reseat all cables that are connected to the CPU. Also, try reseating all components connected to the motherboard. that includes the RAM, Video Card, etc. Here's the proper way to reseat them.

First, remove everything from the motherboard then install them one by one. Once you installed something, try to boot it up. until you have isolated the cause of the problem. The most common cause of this kind of issue is the memory(RAM).

That's what you need to do before you throw your desktop away.

Hope this helps!

Unit came with 2 256 mem sticks--bought and installed 2 1GB sticks(pc3200,400mhz,84pin,low density,DDR--unit will not boot

The 2 1Gb RAM are either the wrong type or they are incompatible.
Try to use the same brand and speed as the 256 Mb RAM that was installed in your Dell.

Windows xp screen appears on Dell dimension 3000 desktop. It tries to boot up but then the screen goes black and just sits there. How do I fix this? I need to just get my data files off.

When you first turn on your computer, start pressing the F8 key about once every 1/2 second until you get to the boot menu. From there, select "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking" (if you want to transfer files via network connection). The rest should be pretty self explanatory.

Added 2g to a dell dimension 3000, only 1g recognized

Dell has a really good support site. You log on, enter your service tag number (on the top of side of your PC) and they will tell you exactly how much ram you support, the type of ram needed and how many slots it has. If it was a matching pair then it should be working, unseat it and reseat it, it may not be in all the way. If still don't show then put it back in the old computer and see if it reads it. If not then the RAM stick got damaged during the move. But no doubt you should be able to handle more that 1GB of RAM. Good Luck, let me know if you have any questions.
