If it will not hold a charge then the battery pack is worn out/defective and you must replace it. You can find the number on the battery and get them on eBay.

You do not say what is not working. So on my guess is the headset may be old, and you
need to replace it. It needs to be re-paired to headset. It does not
hold a charge. It could be replaced with an Plantronics M100.
Here are a few steps to review before coming to the realization that
your battery could be wasted. Give them a try and see if it helps any.
1) While your headset is charging, the indicator glows red. When your headset is fully charged, the indicator turns off.
2) Turn off the headset: Press and hold the call control button until
the indicator glows red. You will hear descending tones. When power is
off, indicator stays off. 3) Turn on the headset: Press and hold the call control button until the indicator glows blue. You will hear ascending tones.
The battery is probably dying, if this is an old unit. Unfortunately the battery in the headset is not replaceable, but you can buy a replacement headset to work with the base unit. Here is a link where you can buy the replacement headset:

Turn off the Bluetooth on your iPhone. When charging the Plantronics 220, hold down its on/off button until it starts to blink two different colors. Then turn the Bluetooth to on once again on your phone. Once it detects the device, press pair. The pin is '0000'. A little late but hope it helps.
Sounds like you have a bum unit. Plantronics gives a 1 year warranty with every wireless product, I'd send it back.
Have you made sure that you're turning it on correctly? You push the call answer button and hold it down for about 3 - 5 seconds before it turns on, until the blue light turns on. Make sure that you don't hold it longer than that or it will go into pairing mode.
Start with the device off but fully charged. Press and hold the call
control button for 8 seconds; at this point, you'll see the light flash
blue then red. You'll have two minutes to connect it to your new phone. Use the passkey 0000 after your phone finds the headset.
I have a Plantronics headset as well. If it stops charging it means it's time to buy a new one. If it's still under warranty however you should get a hold of plantronics to see if they can replace it because then it would be considered defective. Here is their number:
